What could a prehistoric apocalypse, eating cake, and being attacked with knives mean in a dream?

Dream 537: Cut It Out!

A man had the following dream:

“I just had a dream that I was in a prehistoric hominid war between another species of prehistoric hominid (This is actually a slightly shortened version of my dream). This war was a major determining factor for the evolutionary future of humanity. There were 800,000 of one species vs. a million of the other. After surviving the war, I was with a group of people in a now post-apocalyptic world, who were my two brothers, a woman I know, my dad, and his friend. We were walking through caverns scavenging for food when we found a modern house with technology in it, and we were no longer ancient ape-like people. We were quietly looking for food to take, when one of us found a full cake as well as a small slice of red velvet cake. They gave both of them to me to hold. The big cake had birthday candles lit on it and had the inscription “Jesus is King” written in frosting. Then we started making our way out of the house and back through the caves. Then my mom called me on my cellphone, and I became distracted and ate all of the cake, minus a few scraps and the slice of red velvet. I suddenly realized what I had done, and said “Oh…. shit” I said “Sorry guys, I accidently ate all the cake.” Everyone got mad at me. I tried to hand the slice of red velvet cake and the scraps of the other cake to my dad’s friend (who was now Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, lol). He didn’t want what was left and took it and threw it really hard at my face. I angrily said “It was a fucking accident, I didn’t even know I was eating it!” Then I took the cake off me and threw it back at him. Now we were looking for more food and we were back in this house. The house was now a maze, with stairs and hallways leading to the same places. I went upstairs and there were boxes of stove burners blocking my path that I had to climb over. After I climbed over them and went upstairs, there was a room with a gas stove with two burners on. I signaled everyone to go back down and be quiet because there were people up there. We were trying to leave the house but we couldn’t find a way out. Now suddenly, everyone but me was sitting at a dining room table in the house. They all had headphones on and were asleep in a deep trance. Two old people came down the stairs while I hid behind a couch. I saw an open door that I could have ran out of, that led to a beautiful land full of fauna and sunshine. I didn’t go, because I didn’t want to leave everyone. One of the old people was a short man with glasses and the other was a big tall fat lady. They had a weird vibe, like an aura of death, that kind of reminded me of people who work at funeral homes. They saw me, and instead of going after me, they went to everyone at the table and pulled out knives. The short old man started slitting my dad’s friend’s throat with an all black knife, and the fat old lady started cutting the back of my older brother’s neck. I ran up and punched the short old man in the head and took his knife and stabbed him a bunch of times, then I stabbed the other old person, who was now a tall thin old man instead of a fat old lady. Then I looked back and saw that the short old man was still alive, and was now trying to cut my younger brother. I stabbed him some more and he died. The tall old man was still alive too, still trying to slice my older brother, so I finished him off too. I checked to see if my brother was still breathing, and he was. I ripped the headphones off of their heads, but they were all still in this deep sleep/trance. The only one who didn’t get cut was me and my dad. I think the girl who was with us got cut at some point too.”

Interpretation

In the 1st part of the dream, in the war between the pre hominids, this probably is about your taming the instinctive and more primitive parts of your personality. You are deciding what shadow parts of your personality to keep. That the part of the humanoids that wins the war leads to a greater civilization means that the more civilized parts of yourself have gained greater priority in your subconscious.

You then are left with your 2 brothers, a woman you know, your father, and his friend. Those are the parts of your personality that you want to emphasize, for one reason or another.

The part where food is involved and the velvet cake are all about how you nurture yourself and other people.

The part where you are a killing the parts that are trying to destroy the good parts of yourself with knives, and your retaliating by killing them with knives, are probably all about cutting remarks. I would think that you are defending the people you love from cutting remarks and are defending yourself against being hurt by cutting remarks.

That your father was the only one that did not get cut indicates your father introject is probably the center of your personality. It is a major part of your internal strength that shields you from the cutting remarks of others, and guards your self-esteem.

The dreamer later told me that the interpretation was very accurate.

What does breastfeeding a baby mean in a dream?

woman holding baby

Dream 361: It’s Your Baby!

A woman had a dream that another woman had an infant about 6 months old that she wanted the dreamer to breast feed. The woman wanted to give the baby to the dreamer so that the dreamer could feed this 6 month old baby. The dreamer said that in the dream her breasts were full with milk, but when she tried to feed the baby, the baby would not let her feed it and kept reaching for its mother.

Interpretation

When we have a new idea, a new project, or a new creation, people often say, “it’s your baby.” If it were my dream, I would take it as a sign that there is a new idea or project that someone came up with that my subconscious does not want me to nurture, that the new project or idea needs to be owned and nurtured by its creator.

What does food represent in a dream?

Healing Light of Reike

Dream Question 295:

A female professional chef who also was a lightworker/healer wondered why she often had dreams involving food. This raised the question of what does food usually represent in a dream?

Answer

Dreams almost always are stimulated by recent day residue. Something in the dreamer’s current life literally or symbolically triggered a dream about situations or emotions that you may be dealing with. Food symbolically represents psychological nurture or a wish to want to support/help others.

As a lightworker/healer, she definitely helped and supported other people. It is no surprise from either a practical standpoint or from a symbolic view that food was prominent in her dreams. She was nurturing as a chef and as a new age lightworker.

The Whole Enchilada

The Hot Enchilada
There Are Many Ways To Be Hot

Dream 293:A 32-year-old woman dreamt that she was an enchilada in a pan with other enchiladas on both sides of her. She was suffocatingly hot. She was so hot that she actually woke up to find her cat and her husband on each side of her.

Interpretation

This dream was true on both the physical and emotional levels of dream interpretation. She woke up because she was physically hot as the heat was turned up in her house and she was between the bodies of her cat and husband. Many people interpreting dreams would stop with the physical interpretation. That is most often a mistake.

While the physical interpretation is certainly true, the emotional interpretation of this dream was also accurate. She was a very nurturing person to her family which is why she appears as food in the dream. Food is psychological nurture in dreams. She admitted that she was “hot” in the sense that her husband had not had sex with her for awhile.

In this case the word “hot” took on multiple meanings. She was “hot” in the sense that she was good-looking. She was “hot” because she had not had sex for a while. Finally her anger toward her husband was a “hot” emotion. To disregard the psychological meaning of this dream would have missed a lot.

Being Conservative Is Hard on My Head

Dream 202: Being Conservative Is Hard on My Head

A 36-year-old fine arts professor dreamed that he was on the patio of a Mexican restaurant. The was a wasp’s nest above the kidney-shaped bar. Suddenly, a wasp flew down and stung him in the head. The dream shifted to him listening to a waitress. She was telling him about a long sordid affair she had with a professor.

Dream 202 Interpretation

This professor recently received job offers from colleges in Ohio and California. WASP also stands for White Anglo-Saxon Protestant. I asked him which college was more conservative. He replied that the college in Ohio was much more conservative and he did not know if it would tolerate his avant-garde teaching style and research. I asked him what he associated with Mexican restaurants, and he replied California. I asked him what was the biggest mistake he ever made in his field, and he replied that he regretted a decision not to attend a college in California.

The dream voted for the college in California. His subconscious exclaimed that a conservative atmosphere was hard on his head and thinking. A restaurant in a dream nurtures one psychologically, and the dream is saying that, for him, California is more nurturing.

The female waitress is a part of his work emotions. In dreams, a waitress is often seen as “one who waits.” He told me consciously that his biggest career mistake was not attending a learning institution in California. The waitress is talking about an emotional mistake with a professor. The dream is warning him about making sincere and solid emotional connections. The dream is screaming that he needs to attend a learning institution in California.

Vacation Advice

beautiful-english-garden-6Dream 193: Take a Cultural Vacation

A 50-year-old woman dreamt that she was looking at a tree with a television set in it. The dream was showing her scenes of her vacationing in England where she was attending cultural events and admiring the English gardens. The television program switched to showing Bermuda and assured her that the heat would not bother vacationers. The dream shifted to her eating cookies her mother made for her when she was 7 years old.

Dream 193 Interpretation

A tree is a primary symbol of integration. A television is both audio and visual one way communication. She deeply enjoyed her vacations in England where she attended cultural events, and she particularly loved the English gardens.

The dream was communicating to her that it would be good for her integration as a person to go on a vacation that included cultural and garden events. She planned a vacation that included theater, artistic and botanic events. She often went to colder climates, but was not concerned about the heat in the South where she planned to vacation. The dream indicated that the heat would not bother her on her vacation to Virginia (which incidentally is at roughly the same latitude as Bermuda.)

Food in dreams usually represents what is nutritious for the dreamer. The dream ending with her eating her grandmother’s cookies reinforced the idea that a cultural vacation would be especially nurturing for her.

Dream: The Wise Old Man Gives a Gem

Dream 179: The Wise Old Man Gives a Gem

A 60-year-old woman dreamt that she made her way to some fields towing a 5-year-old boy. She was accompanied by her sister and brother. The first field was a field of vibrant and green broccoli. The second field was full of vividly colorful and artistic exotic flowers. The third field contained a baseball diamond surrounded by a stadium which was still under construction. The area from second base to third base was so overgrown that a path was carved out of the overgrowth so that base runners could run without interference.

She then went with the small boy to a movie theater. An old man gave her a huge and finely cut green emerald. While handing the gem to her he said, “Being with people I loved was far more satisfying than going to work every day.”

Dream Interpretation

The 5-year-old boy represented a relatively new part of herself, a new way of doing things. The emphasis was on action because the child was a boy. She noted that her sister and brother were pompous and stuffy. She was wanting to change these emotional (sister) and action (brother) parts of herself.

The different fields represented different areas of her life that she wanted to change. She wanted to eat more healthy foods (broccoli) and appreciate the aesthetics (flowers) more. The baseball field represented the game of life. Old growth was interfering with her advancement and she needed to carve a way to third base in her life.

She took the boy, a relatively new way of doing things, to a movie theater. A movie theater in dreams is usually a place where life review takes place. A theater is dark which underscores that it is a subconscious review of life.

The old man represented the wise old man archetype. This part of the subconscious typically gives advice and support regarding what actions are advisable for the dreamer. He literally gave her a gem of advice. The green of the fields and the green of the emerald emphasized that the dream and the advice given were concerned with growth. Her dream was saying that she needed to take care of herself (eat right), enjoy art and aesthetics more, and surround herself with the people she loved.

She decided to accept her daughter’s offer to have the dreamer live with her family in the country. The area was surrounded by fields. She decided to decrease her work schedule and focus on improving the aesthetics of her surroundings.  Beauty, nurturing and growth with family you love, rather than work, were the relatively new areas (fields) of her life that she wanted to enjoy.
