Dream 488: UFOS and the hope for change
A woman had the following dream:
“Isn’t it frustrating to forget a dream that you feel has great significance in your life? Just last night…I can only remember seeing the moon in my dream…only it became two…then many more…then all of a suddenly these satelites became spaceships flying all over the place as if getting ready to attack the planet….dammit, that’s all I remember. Must have been a glimpse to a near future or something.”
In many ways, dreams of UFO s and the moon may signal hope for a better world to emerge. Dream master Carl Jung saw UFOs as a “mandela of divine hope.”
To quote Jung: “In the threatening situation of the world today, when people are beginning to see that everything is at stake, the projection-creating fantasy soars beyond the realm of earthly organizations and powers into the heavens, into interstellar space, where the rulers of human fate, the gods, once had their abode …”
What this means, at the first subconscious level of dream interpretation, goes something like “the world is such a dangerous place that we hope someone or some force in the universe will save us earthlings.”
This may well be the case. The Moon is a prime symbol of the subconscious. It is connected to emotions and intuition. Your dream knows that that the world’s problems won’t be solved by conscious logic, but needs an emotional and subconscious transformation.
The moons multiplying means that your dream is screaming that “what the road needs now is love, sweet love” to quote songwriter Burt Bacharach.

“I am posting for a friend, because when she recalls her dreams, they usually mean something. They use imagery, symbolism and metaphors.
In the first part of her dream, she had to contain a room full of snakes without hurting any. That’s about it…
In the second part of the same dream, she was on ‘Earth’ but there were human-animal hybrids that imprisoned and ruled over humanity. They were protected from the ‘end’.
The moon was to collide with the planet, but as it hit, the sky flickered like a hologram, and the world leaders announced a failed nuclear detonation. They were trying to destroy the planet but blame something else.
The hybrids stand out to me:
-A strange form of centaur that was half horse, but half were-wolfish
-A form of pegasi that had bat wings
-Human-Lioness hybrids. White/blonde
The first part of a dream sequence usually announces what the dream is going to be about. Snakes almost invariably represent change. What is interesting about this is that she’s not worried about the snakes hurting her, she wanted to be careful to not hurt the snakes.
A snake is considered, broadly speaking, to be an animal. Animals usually represent our instincts. It is interesting that she wants to be careful not to damage her instincts which is unusual and bodes well for her, I believe. As we treat ourselves so we tend to treat others, and I would suspect that she is a very considerate type of person. So the dream is announcing that this sequence is going to be about change and how she handles her instincts, making sure not to damage her groundedness.
One can’t help but like the hybrids part of this dream. It represents instincts that are well-controlled.
In fact, I believe this series of dreams is all about her concern over controlling her instincts. Fortunately, I think the dream delivers mostly good news on this account. She is a very diverse person with well-controlled instincts. Let me take them one by one.
The Avians are like birds and usually represent freedom, i.e., “free as a bird.” Freud was right on a few things, and one of the things he was right about is that a horse usually goes with female sexual power. But this is a centaur, which is half human, which would normally indicate that her sexuality instincts are usually well-controlled; however, this centaur is half-horse and half were-wolf-like. That would indicate that she is worried about the wild side of her sexuality.
I think of the pegasi as a magical flying horse. So this would probably represent the magical power of sensuality.
The human lioness image is powerful. It is always good to have powerful animals in your dream. She has a lot of psychic energy that can be used for good. A lioness is Queen of the Jungle and actually does all of the hunting while the King of the Jungle sleeps. To me this would imply that she has a solid work ethic and maternal instincts.
The white & blonde color is interesting. White is the most spiritual color, while blonde is considered to be an ideal quality of the feminine and Divine Child in Western culture.
The Moon is usually thought of as going with subconscious emotional impulses that are somewhat in the dark. The Moon is literally colliding with the Earth which is a way of saying what she fears what will happen if her subconscious instincts are actualized, i.e., what will happen if her instincts become grounded and actualized in reality.
The Hologram is interesting. Any piece of a hologram will reflect the whole hologram. So in some sense a hologram is indestructible. I think the dream is trying to reassure her that her world doesn’t come to an end because of subconscious conflicts and change going on in her life.
Fire goes with change because fire changes matter into energy. A nuclear explosion is super fire or super change.
I think part of this involves the dream trying to reassure her that her world doesn’t come to an end if she becomes somewhat more instinctually uninhibited.
The world leaders are the opposite of the instinctive parts of herself. They actually think about destroying the world when they are supposed to be the leaders of the world. In other words, they are so logical that they make no sense. Does this sound like her parents?
This dream is partially a cautionary tale of rationalization and logic going too far, which she will not do because she honors her instincts highly. On the other hand, safe sex should be practiced to prevent a detonation.

A 58-year-old woman dreamt that she was watching the desert from her picture window. Suddenly, she thought an asteroid hit the moon. It broke a chunk of the moon off. She thought that when the chunk reached her, she would die. After the moon chunk hit the earth, she felt the dust pass through her and knew that she died. She was surprised that she then had a feeling of relief and joy.
The moon tends to represent the unconscious. The sun goes with the conscious. The moon is associated with love and romance (think of the song Moon River or George’s promise to his fiancee to “lasso the moon” for her in the movie It’s a Wonderful Life.)
A death in a dream can mean that a part of the psyche “died” or was modified significantly. Part of the moon crashing to earth, in this case, meant that she was changing her love life significantly by being more “down to earth” with her lover. She recently had transformed the relationship with him by being more assertive. She expected more from him and was pleasantly surprised that she was much happier.
