What does flying, robots, babies and your mom criticizing you in a dream mean?

Robots, Flying and Kids

Dream 334: I’m Ready to Fly (almost)

A career woman dreamed that she was flying like superwoman. A flying robot was flying after her trying to catch her, which he never did. It was like having to escape from the flying robot helped her to learn to fly better.

She saw a festival and went down to feast before returning to flying. She could hear her mother saying that she should go home and take care of her babies instead of partying and flying around. The dreamer felt resentment that she had to stop flying to take care of her babies (the dreamer had no children in real life.)

Interpretation

Flying implies that the dreamer is feeling personally powerful and able to accomplish many goals. A robot is not human in a mechanical repetitive rote memory way that is boring. A baby represents new projects in the dreamer’s life or new parts of herself that she wants to develop.

Each character in the dream is a part of the dreamer’s mind which is the first rule in my book Dreams: Guide to the Soul. Her mother in the dream is the image of her mother she introjected into her subconscious as a child. The mother introject is often the basis of the dreamer’s emotions. In this case, the mother introject is functioning primarily to make her feel guilty for not living up to her responsibilities.

Given the above, I have several thoughts: (1) The dreamer felt held down and wanted to fly, (2) Her attempts to avoid being robotic-like (she is flying away from a pursuing robot) encouraged her to fly (to boldly strike out in new directions), (3) She felt guilty about festivaling/feasting too much (her mother introject did not approve) and (4) She probably feel held down by new projects (the dream is emphasizing new babies which are usually new projects or developing new parts of herself, i.e., “it’s your baby.”)

The dreamer later told me that “feeling held down is exactly how I feel, it is a good representation of how I feel….I just feel weighted down by all these things, even new projects..and I have little to no energy to make myself become not weighted down……the way I interpreted my dream was, I have to take care of some projects before i learn, or am finally able to fly.”

Is She Good or Bad for Me: The Ancient Question

imagesDream 189: Is She Good or Bad for Me?

A 33-year-old man dreamt that he was relaxing in an open green field. He was lying on his back and looking up to the sky and the surrounding beautiful natural fields enveloped within shelter belts. Every so often a presence or force appeared above him. He was trying to figure out if it was a force associated with his beautiful girlfriend that he loved very much or whether it was a dark and insidiously evil force. In any case, he felt that it was a very powerful force.

Dream 189–Interpretation

He was the survivor of two disastrous divorces after short marriages where his wives were obviously using him for his wealth. He was in therapy because he found it difficult to trust his girlfriend whom he previously dated in high school. She was beautiful and talented and had played games with him dating wise in high school.

Their reunion was very different from what happened in high school. His girlfriend’s previous arrogance transformed to empathy because she suffered a previous emotionally abusive relationship. He felt he could trust her now, but was cautious because of their history in high school and his relatively recent divorces.

The dream indicated the progress he was making in psychotherapy. He recently was trying to relax more around his girlfriend. The scene of the dream told what happens when he relaxes about his girlfriend as it occurred in a beautiful natural scene where he was physically relaxed.

The image that appears above him is his shadow. Almost all major changes in psychotherapy involve the shadow. The dream was giving him an up close look at his shadow on his girlfriend.

He was subconsciously worried how his girlfriend would affect him if he allowed her to be predominant (above him) in his life. Lying down with stomach up is a classic submission pose among animals. That she was close enough to be considered on a par with his shadow verified the current depth of their relationship.
