Put Yourself Out in the River of Life

Dream 210: Be Ye Fishers of Men

A 37-year-old woman dreamed that she was sitting on a couch looking at a fish that was stuck on a wall above an opposite and opposing couch. She then saw her best and extroverted friend who magically made the fish come to life. The friend then carried the fish to a stream in front of the house. The friend released the fish into the stream.

Dream 210–Interpretation

Fish represent subconscious energy. Water is emotion. The dream was saying that her emotional energy had hit a wall. A house can represent the dreamer to an extent as it is the framework out of which the dreamer lives. The extroverted friend was from her high school and she was very extroverted and active. The dream was asking her to use the emotional extrovert within herself to release seemingly dead energy and to return to the river of life.

You’ve Caught a Big One!

Dream 174: You’ve Caught a Big One!
A 52-year-old man dreamt that he and his father were camping in a cave with a lake nearby.  As he left the cave a huge catfish that could somehow run came after him.  He thought the large fish was going to hurt him but it did not.  He was eventually able to restrain the catfish and put it on a stringer.
Dream 174 Interpretation
The dreamer was contemplating subconscious emotions. His father in the dream was his father introject which basically directs the dreamer’s actions. The cave is the subconscious (subterranean). Water is emotion.  Lakes are localized emotion. The catfish is a part of his instinctive energy. The catfish in particular is a scavenger that lives on waste material.
The dreamer was recently conflicted about being consumed with a hobby which was refurbishing thrown away electronic equipment.  He was worried that this interest was pursuing him and would hurt his chances of achieving other goals.  Refurbishing electronic equipment was metaphorically represented by a scavenger catfish (his instinctive energy was scavenging, refurbishing, thrown away electronic equipment).
The dream was reassuring him that he would not be hurt by this interest if he controlled himself. He needed to restrain (stringed) his interest, so that the hobby could be nourishing to him (eating the catfish).  He felt he needed to control the scavenging interest somewhat because he had bigger fish to fry.
