What does having your baby delivered by a troubled sister mean?

images
Dream 506: Surprising delivery in difficult circumstances

I usually research my dreams online and find clear answers, but my dream last night was memorable and I’m getting very mixed results.

First and foremost, I am not pregnant!

But I dreamt of having cramps during a family event and finding out a hour or so later that it was labor. I was hardly showing and confused (in real life I’ve gained about 20 pounds I’m subconscious about and in my dream I was just a little larger than my actual size in the tummy). Being with my whole family, I got rushed to a safe place and before I knew it was giving birth.

My sister, who I am struggling with having a natural relationship with, delivered the baby in one easy push. She was beautiful and I held her in my arms. She had a lot of hair for a new-born and looked right at me. She was perfect!

I don’t remember much of the rest, but of course couldn’t help but be curious. I’ve had a dream about being pregnant but never one of giving birth. Things I’ve read say it’s a change or misfortune and both ways weigh heavily in that direction. Obviously don’t want a misfortune! It felt sudden and unplanned, but like a blessing once it was all said and done.

Interpretation

A baby usually is giving birth to a new aspect of yourself. It is a baby girl delivered by the contrary sister. Women usually go with an emotional part of your mind.

At the first level, I would guess that the part of you that is dealing with the sister is changing in significant ways. At the second level, the dream might be signaling a condensation in the sense that if you let your sister help you “deliver,” it may open up a newly minted emotional part of yourself.

Another point of view is that a part of your emotions that is like your sister (try not to throw up) could be a shadow part of yourself that helps you deliver new and beautiful emotional perspectives.

In any case, I would take the dream as positive predictive and trying to give you credit for using a shadow part of your emotions to bring about new beginnings.

In any case, I think the dream may be saying that things improve emotionally with your family (since they all go to the hospital together with you)–hospitals are a symbol of a place where healing occurs.

What does a scarecrow and a city underwater mean in a dream?

5a057f504521b95c571c0f0d55846be6

Dream 455: It’s scaring me, but I’ll protect my family

A man had the following dream:

I’m at the sea dangling my feet on the water. I stare at the water for some time. It’s like my mind goes somewhere else. Then after some time I find that the water is beginning to drown me. Bear in mind I’m off shore on the rocks.

I run as fast as I can to the land. When I’m in the Land, there’s a guy in the water. I think he’s standing in a tower of a city underwater, but it looks like the city is drowning. Every time a wave comes over him, he’s just standing in the water like a scarecrow in a garden.

I think he’s calling me; however, I was so scared because I did not want to lieve my family behind. So I ran to my family to check if they were okay because I felt they needed me. I’m not sure what to make of this dream.

Interpretation

Each character in the dream represents a part of your mind at the first level of dream interpretation. Water invariably goes with emotion. The ocean or a large body of water tends to go with the subconscious. The land tends to go with consciousness.

What the dream seems to be saying is that you’re being overwhelmed by emotion so much that it’s almost hard to stay civilized (the city, civilization, is drowning). It is actually good that you resist joining the man who is like a scarecrow in the water. The dream suggests that you run consciously to be with your family because they need you.

The dream may be saying or may be advising or may just be describing the situation where you resist being overwhelmed by emotion and take care of your family.

The fact that the man in the water seems like a scarecrow implies that things you feel threatened by may just be a possibility and may not be all that real as long as you take precautions to ward off bad influences, like people who would prey on your crops, people who would consume what you produce in life.

What does delivering your own baby in a dream mean?

hqdefault

Dream 441: It’s your baby

A woman had the following dream:

“I had a dream I delivered my own baby and unwrapped the cord from his neck too . Was directing my family to call 911 and get scissors to cut cord to.”

Interpretation

Having a baby means giving birth to a new aspect of yourself. The dream is saying probably that you need to give some air to a new idea, project or new characteristic of yourself.

I think it may be saying that no one can do this for you. It is literally your baby.911 emphasizes usually that you should make the changes now. The scissors cutting the cord and you calling your family may mean something about cutting the cord with your family.

What does your mother being bitten by an ant mean in a dream?

It's always when you just get settled!
It’s always when you just get settled!

Dream 391: My Sister Is Very Irritating

A woman had the following dream: “I had a strange dream I was walking then I saw my sister at an office and she says that my mom got bit by ants. I believe that was the doctors office. It ended there.”

My Interpretation

“Each living thing in the dream represents a part of your mind at the first level. It sounds like it mainly involves emotions since women tend to go more with emotions. The mother in the dream is the mother in your mind that we call the mother introject. The mother introject is often the basis of emotions.

Animals (in this case ants) usually represent our instincts, what we are prone to do naturally. Ants are methodical, routine and focused on accomplishing what needs to be done for the group compulsively.

Being bit by ants is a nuisance/irritating. I wonder if there is a situation (maybe involving family) where you have put in a lot of work and are feeling a little annoyed or taken for granted?”

The dreamer responded with the following confirmation: “Yes, my sister was over for a month. My sister is very bossy and doesn’t use nice words to tell them to do things. Not cursing, not a sweet person very cold and mean!”

What does it mean when you find money in a barn for the family you babysit for?

Getting Energy from Doing What You Love
Getting Energy from Doing What You Love

Dream 390: Old MacDonald had a Barn Full of Energy

A woman had the following dream:

“I dreamed that the family I babysit for (I am friends with the mother) had lost like a friend or family member and a very large sum of cash was owed/given to them. The family drove me to the place to pick it up because they needed help getting it. We go to this farm looking space and I walk into the barn/ware-house type building. It was only being lit from the natural lighting coming from outside but it was enough for me to see this huge trunk in the middle of the room that i needed to use to put the money in for the family, there was huge wads of cash and single bills scattered about the floor. I filled up the trunk as much as I could, and left the rest there, as I made my way back to the family’s car. Just because I was the only one in there taking the money for the family, it felt in a way like I was stealing, but i was only doing what I was told to do, I think I felt odd being the one having to go get the money instead of one of the family members doing it themselves, but they said they needed me to help get it for them. When I got to the car, a man who was following me, walked up to us (tan, dark hair and handsome; wearing overalls), said sorry he was not in the room with me to help out and he had work elsewhere to do, and he brought me the remaining cash that was for the family. Then we all drove away.”

My Interpretation

In dreams, money is energy. The barn is a natural and I want to say innocent place where your instincts (animals) are nurtured.

It sounds like you want to give all of the instinctive energy you can to the family you babysit for and want to give even more, but hold back wondering if you should, but then say it is okay because that is what I am supposed to do.

You get the energy free of charge from the universe by doing what you do for this family and you even get paid for doing it (no reason to feel guilty about being paid). The heroic action part of yourself feels that you could give even more energy to this family because it is nothing but good. What a country!

The tall, dark and handsome man is the representation of your own heroic masculine archetype which is often the initiator of therapeutic action, of things that are good for you. This part wholeheartedly wants you to feel uninhibited in giving personal energy to the family (the energy of the universe is supplied to you without your asking for it and this is a good thing for you and for the family).

What do trees mean in a dream?

Tree of Life
Tree of Life

Dream 327: I Feel Uprooted

Trees in dreams are major symbols of integration. Trees have deep roots that go far down into the ground, they reach upward towards the sky, and they are on the level ground where you are. They also are symbols of growth because they are large living plants. They are vital to the survival of the planet as they take carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the air. The following dream describes how a dream uses a tree to indicate confusion in the person’s life.

A woman dreamt that there was a large tree that had fallen over with its roots exposed. The implication was that it was a large tree that made an impression on her by being uprooted.

As described above, trees typically have something to say about the dreamers stage of integration of the various aspects of their life. In this case, the dream is going out of its way to say her personal life or integration has been disrupted because she’s been uprooted. Specifically, the dream is saying that her world has been turned over because her roots have been exposed. Her roots can be either her personal life, deep connections, family, personal beliefs, etc. Since dreams usually have therapeutic aims, the dream is going out of its way to point to a problem in her world.

What do wolves mean in a dream?

Predators on the Chase
Predators on the Chase

Wolves are predators. In dreams they represent the savage predatory influences we are sometimes subjected to. In the dream below, a mother’s protective instinct for her family is expressed.

Dream 301: Protecting my Family

A woman dreamt that a buck deer was leading his family away from wolves chasing his family. As the wolves drew closer, he decided he would have to fight the wolves while his family escaped. He carried on what seemed like an endless fight with the wolves while his family escaped into the thicket.

Interpretation

Dreams like to use words as a concrete pun when it can to get the dreamer’s attention. Why did the dream pick a deer family when it could have picked many other species? I believe it was because a deer family would emphasize how “dear” family was to this mother.

Animals represent the dreamer’s instincts many times. The father buck is a hero. Specifically, he is an instinctive variant of the heroic masculine archetype.

In women, this archetype represents an action part of the dreamer’s mind that she uses to protect loved ones. His motto is “to protect and serve.” It is willing to die to protect loved ones. This archetype is almost always good news when it shows up in dreams.

What this shows is this mother’s endless willingness to fight for her family’s sake. The buck was willing to die if only the family escaped the predatory savage influences that sometimes surface in the world. It is a noble and self-sacrificing archetype responsible for much of the good in the world.

What does a shark mean in a dream?

It's Really Difficult to Leave This Home Pool
It’s Really Difficult to Leave This Home Pool

Dream 302
A woman dreamed that she was underwater in a swimming pool that was a combination of a swimming pool and the ocean. It seemed vast and open on the one hand, but had a ladder and  swimming pool accessories on the other hand. In the water with her was a shark with a bloody mouth because he had just been feeding.

The shark made no move towards attacking her. She decided to leave the pool because she could not hold her breath any longer. She climbed up the pool ladder and was intending to go towards her mother and sister.

The shark grabbed her by the right leg as she was leaving the pool/ocean. The shark did not hurt or bite her. The shark only put enough pressure on the leg that  she could not leave the ocean/pool.

Interpretation

Water is invariably emotions in dreams. Particularly subconscious emotions. It depends upon what type of body of water it is also.

The open ocean represents the best symbol we have for the vast subconscious. A pool represents our emotions at home because pools are located near homes. The image in the dream sounds like a combination of the ocean and a pool so that they together represent deep subconscious emotions at home.

Each character in a dream represents a part of our mind. Women tend to represent the parts of the dreamers mind that deals with emotions. That her mother and sister are in the dream especially emphasizes that it’s about emotions at home.

Also, the shark having a bloody mouth indicates the color red. The color red goes with the first chakra. The first chakra often deals with family (or tribe) issues. The color red also signals strong emotions such as love and anger (which are present in spades in family issues).

Animals represent our instincts. The shark is an aggressive predator. It is a shadow energy that we all deal with and are uncomfortable with for the most part.

The dream implies that she is immersed in her emotions and dealing with instincts or anger which we all have. We need these instincts to some extent to defend ourselves. The dream indicates that she worries about being overly angry sometimes at home and tries not to dwell on it as it makes her uncomfortable.

When she tries to get out of the pool to go to her mother and sister, the shark grabs her right leg. This is important. It sounded like it didn’t really hurt the dreamer but mainly wanted her to stay in the pool.

This is the dreams way of saying it wants her to deal with these emotions. The dream wanted to help her deal emotionally with others. Even the fact that it grabbed her right leg is significant.

Legs support us. The right side is associated with our conscious intentions. This suggest that the dream wants her to deal with any angers she had at home to help her be supportive to others and to herself.

Possible Details to Wonder About

We know at the first level that this dream is about emotional conflicts at home. At the next and second level of the dream, it is vital to get details from the dreamer. Let me explain.

For example, this dream could involve money conflicts and difficulty leaving home. The term “loan shark” comes to mind. One wonders whether there are money issues.

It is possible that she is subconsciously angry because she feels controlled because someone she is close to her has a financial hold on her (the shark not allowing her to leave the pool is the major clue here). Being in such a situation is especially stressful because if she leaves the current financial arrangements, she might feel that she didn’t have a leg to stand on (the shark would not let go of her leg). While it looks like she might be in a “hostile dependency” situation, getting further details from the dreamer would be vital to fully interpret this interesting dream.

My Created Family Died

drugs_kill_dreams_sticker

Dream 259: An eighteen-year-old male dreamed that he was in a house with a family. They all went upstairs to find the body of a dead young man underneath a bed. Everyone in the family was very upset.

Interpretation: He recently found out that his best friend moved away and no longer had contact with the dreamer because he was addicted to crack cocaine. The dreamer was close to his friend’s family who said they considered him to be part of the family. The subconscious treats the loss of a close friendship as equal to death.

The above is dream interpretation at the second or interpersonal level. The interpreter has to know what is going on in the dreamer’s life at this level. At the first level, each character in the dream represents a part of the dreamer’s psyche or mind. This is both usually more difficult and often more rewarding than the interpersonal level which is more surface circumstances than unconscious processes.

At the first level of dream interpretation, the family represented  the various parts of his mind that wanted membership in his best friend’s family. The young man’s dead body symbolized his hope that he would actually be a part of a created loving family was dead. He was very upset by his friend’s addiction. When, as in this case, both levels of dream interpretation are true, we say that dream condensation occurred.

Incidentally, alcohol decreases dreams and marijuana virtually eliminates dreams.

Killing My Disability

Dream 222: Killing the Idea of Going On Disability

A 42-year-old man dreamt that he was walking with his 8-year-old daughter down a path. They came upon a rattlesnake that looked threatening. He killed the rattlesnake and gave the rattlesnake’s rattlers to his daughter which she used as a play toy.

Dream 222–Interpretation

He was an engineer for many years. He quit when his anxiety became unmanageable after he was given an exceedingly critical supervisor. He went on short-term disability. He decided for many reasons not to go back to engineering. He then went to college to become a physician’s assistant.

He did not like the effect disability had on his emotions nor did he like the example it was setting for his children. Each animal, human, creature or spirit represents a part of the dreamer’s mind at the first level of dream interpretation. The path represented his path in life.

Snakes in particular represent change, as they are one of few animals that completely shed their skin. In this case, it signaled the massive change in family life that the disability threatened to entrench. The dream was saying thst he needed to change his path in life. He frankly killed the idea of going on disability.

His daughter in this dream represented the Divine Child archetype which were his hopes and dreams. He decided to go into a healing profession which was the medical field. It is notable that snakes are also often associated with healing (think of the two snakes encircling a staff which is the symbol for the American Medical Association). His giving the rattlers to his daughter to play with as a toy suggested that he would even find these massive changes in his life fun.

This dream was interpreted using the principles in the book at http://www.drstevenfox.com

Dream: The Wise Old Man Gives a Gem

Dream 179: The Wise Old Man Gives a Gem

A 60-year-old woman dreamt that she made her way to some fields towing a 5-year-old boy. She was accompanied by her sister and brother. The first field was a field of vibrant and green broccoli. The second field was full of vividly colorful and artistic exotic flowers. The third field contained a baseball diamond surrounded by a stadium which was still under construction. The area from second base to third base was so overgrown that a path was carved out of the overgrowth so that base runners could run without interference.

She then went with the small boy to a movie theater. An old man gave her a huge and finely cut green emerald. While handing the gem to her he said, “Being with people I loved was far more satisfying than going to work every day.”

Dream Interpretation

The 5-year-old boy represented a relatively new part of herself, a new way of doing things. The emphasis was on action because the child was a boy. She noted that her sister and brother were pompous and stuffy. She was wanting to change these emotional (sister) and action (brother) parts of herself.

The different fields represented different areas of her life that she wanted to change. She wanted to eat more healthy foods (broccoli) and appreciate the aesthetics (flowers) more. The baseball field represented the game of life. Old growth was interfering with her advancement and she needed to carve a way to third base in her life.

She took the boy, a relatively new way of doing things, to a movie theater. A movie theater in dreams is usually a place where life review takes place. A theater is dark which underscores that it is a subconscious review of life.

The old man represented the wise old man archetype. This part of the subconscious typically gives advice and support regarding what actions are advisable for the dreamer. He literally gave her a gem of advice. The green of the fields and the green of the emerald emphasized that the dream and the advice given were concerned with growth. Her dream was saying that she needed to take care of herself (eat right), enjoy art and aesthetics more, and surround herself with the people she loved.

She decided to accept her daughter’s offer to have the dreamer live with her family in the country. The area was surrounded by fields. She decided to decrease her work schedule and focus on improving the aesthetics of her surroundings.  Beauty, nurturing and growth with family you love, rather than work, were the relatively new areas (fields) of her life that she wanted to enjoy.
