Dream 432: Cut It Out!

A woman had the following dream:

“I don’t know if daydreams matter much, yet i have been having episodes of some awful things that i am seeing, just for a few moments that i see them, yet this most recent one has me freaked out: I see someone (both male) cutting off the mustache hair and then put into the mouth of the other guy who is bound? with what also seems like sawdust?….whatever could such a weird scene mean? At first I thought I am seeing an ’embalmment’ from ancient times, yet there was a new pair of scissors…..

Interpretation

Each character in the dream is a part of your mind usually. At the first level, men represent an action part of the mind. Mustaches are worn almost exclusively by man and are used to look better and more mature. It really has no function other than to improve looks, it is optional to wear and usually represents pure ego.

Sawdust comes from trees. Trees are symbols of integration because its roots reach down into the Earth, it opens up to the sky, and it is here on the level.

You mentioned that it almost seems like an embalming process. When there is death involved of which the sawdust represents the Dead part of the tree also, usually the dream is indicating that there’s a deep personal change that must occur .

I believe the dream is saying that there is a part of your actions being performed to look good that are destroying your integration and must die.

In no uncertain terms (the scissors lying around) it is saying to cut it out (the mustache is cut off)! The good news is that there are two men in the dream and the man cutting the mustache off represents the part of you that realizes you must stop some action you are doing mainly just to look good.

What does it mean to have an ex killed by gangsters and to dream of a father you loved?

Not Reacting to Insults to Your Ego
Not Reacting to Insults to Your Ego

Dream 391: Avoid Provocations and Act More Like Dad

A woman had the following dream:
“I dreamed my ex and I were someplace about to cross the street as I stepped into the street a car full of young men speed up in front of me nearly hitting me… I panicked and banged the hood of their car. This angered them all as did when my ex told them to ef’n watch what they’re doing. The driver turned looked at his friends in the backseat and front passenger seat… I saw him reach for a gun… I turned and ran…hearing gunshots…my ex was killed.

After that dream waking me up when I fell back asleep I dreamed of my dad who passed away from a heart attack 1 1/2 ago.. It wasn’t so much a dream but a flash of different memories of him, i kept seeing of him in my dream. Smiling, laughing, being silly, making his grumpy faces, hearing his voice, cooking.. I don’t know these two dreams left me wondering if they had any meaning.”

My Interpretation

Each character represents a different part of the psyche with women going more with an emotional part and men going more with your actions. An ex represents a relationship you rejected and he (an action part) is killed. What this means is that you have decided not to engage in behavior that enrages others (such as swearing and pounding your fist in anger) even if you are provoked.

The father in your dream is your father in your mind, your father introject, which is often the basis of actions. You have fond memories of what he was like. It sounds like you want the basis of your actions to be somewhat similar to the way your dad did things.

What does hair, bleach, and going bald mean in a dream?

The Attraction of Hair
The Attraction of Hair

Dream 381: Give Me a Head with Hair

A woman had the following dream:

“I dreamed I was bleaching my hair then I was going bald from the front to the back.”

My Interpretation

Hair is on your head where thinking occurs.

Hair is also usually a part of sexual attraction.

Bleach is a harsh way of cleansing impurities. In fact, the implication is that you go bald from the bleaching of the hair.

Going bald often has something to do with a change in your perception of your self-image. Going bald usually is associated with the dreamer viewing herself too negatively.

Putting this together, it may have something to do with trying to cleanse your mind of impure thoughts probably related to sex, but you are being too harsh with yourself to the point that it is negatively affecting your self-image or ego.

Lightning Integration

She Sees the Light(ning)
She Sees the Light(ning)

Dream 290: A woman in her twenties dreamed that she was in a broken run down apartment. She was with loved ones who were insanely content with the condition of the building. The dreamer wondered why they were so happy. They replied that they were satisfied and intended to stay.

Suddenly, the walls began crumbling, the ceilings fell in and the doors were in flames. She then had a vision of Zeus and saw a storm approaching. She somehow felt that she chose lightning which struck a tree in her yard which burst into flames. The tree fell toward the dreamer and crashed through her window.

The dreamer was unscathed, but ran out of the house because she was full of fear that she and loved ones would be hurt. As she ran outside, there was a party going on with neighbors and loved ones. It was a celebration with food and friends. She woke up craving a Pepsi.

Interpretation

Each character represents a part of the dreamer’s mind. A house or apartment represents the framework out of which the dreamer lives. The dream starts out by commenting that the dreamer is entirely too happy with her life when there are obvious flaws and cracks in it.

Fire represents change because fire transforms matter into energy. Lightning is instantaneous and dramatic change. That Zeus appears in the dream indicates that the tumultuous change was sanctioned by the gods.

The dream went on to say that a storm was developing in the dreamer’s life. A tree is a major symbol of integration as its roots go deep beneath visible reality (subconscious), it is present on the surface (conscious), and it opens to the sky (which often has spiritual implications). The storm in her life was disturbing or crashing into her life so that instantaneous change (lightning) was required.

Windows breaking in a dream typically means that the emotional impact has reached the dreamer, i.e., the dreamer now not only sees what is happening, but feels what is happening. The dreamer was afraid that the change would hurt her; however, the appearance of food and friends was meant to assure her that the change was or will be psychologically and socially nurturing. The dream ends by telling her to get with it because she is a part of the Pepsi generation.

What does jewelry, toys, unfamiliar faces, a house, high fashion, a garden, a pool and clothing mean in a dream?

woman jewelryDream 277: A woman had a dream that a male friend who had died was at the house where she was living now. She said “hi” even though is it was not the face of her deceased friend. She somehow knew it was her deceased friend, but his face was very different. Then her male friend proceeded to tell her how many pounds of weight he had lost and how many more he wanted to lose.

She looked at him as he was thin. She asked him why would he want to lose more? He looked great. He answered, “Because I like high fashion.”

She went into another room to get something for the wedding rehearsal and when she returned, the room was filled with children. As she walked through the house every room in the house was filled with children. So she told her friend to wait outside in the garden by the pool. She needed to think.

When she went outside to look for him, the garden and pool area was filled with children. As she looked the garden kept stretching and stretching in size until the grounds got bigger and more children appeared. So she told her friend that they might have to wait a bit.

She went back in the house and went to her room which was filled with children. They were playing and holding some of her belongings which included her whole collection of jewelry. She began to get irritated and then they showed her some things they had built like toys from her jewelry. She was impressed, and thought their creations were amazing. These children were of our various cultures and backgrounds.

Interpretation

A house can represent the dreamer herself because it is the framework out of which one lives. In dreams, each person in the dream is part of the dreamer’s mind. Men tend to go with action parts of the psyche or mind, while women tend to go with more emotional parts of the psyche. Unfamiliar faces are parts of ourselves that we do not know very well.

Children are parts of the self that have not been developed and so represent creative potential. The dream mentions a wedding which is a primary symbol of integration since it joins male (action) parts of the mind with emotional (female) aspects of the psyche. A garden, of course, represents personal growth. Water is virtually always emotion and a pool is emotion that is close to home.

The dream tried to appeal to the dreamer’s ego by saying that it is “high fashion” to rid oneself of excessive and unnecessary ego defenses. Clothing typically represents defenses because it is what the world sees. It similarly looked at her personal belongings as defenses supporting the ego and tried to encourage her to be more playful (with the children making toys of them). The moral of the dream is to have fun and stop worrying about looking good.

In the case of the over-weight man, one looks better to others if your actions are less defensive and more playful. Losing weight is getting rid of a barrier or defense to becoming close to other people. The dream emphasized that there were many diverse parts of herself that she had to offer the world. Her subconscious was trying to get her to be less concerned with appearances, particularly concern over appearances that cover who she really was.

Jewelry is personal adornment and does not represent who she is. With the many children and their creativity, the dream is emphasizing that she had much to offer the world.
