Dream 464: I am worried about the move and the effect on family
My son had a dream zombies were after us and trying kill us. They were setting everything on fire. He had a dream of killing and blood. We got away. It was a very scary dream for a little guy whom has never seen a zombie movie.
Zombies in dreams usually represent depression because that is how we feel when we are very depressed, like “the living dead” (zombies.) My guess would be that it probably is more of a fear of depression or fear of change (fire) involving the family (blood relationships.)
Fire represents change because it changes matter into energy. Blood can refer to relatives by blood or close family. The dreamer’s mother later told me that the family was moving to a new home.
It sounds like he is worried about changes the move will cause which are stressors that usually amplify conflicts temporarily ( which is why their is killing and blood symbolizing conflict involving blood relatives. Hopefully the move goes well and he finds himself in a better situation after the move, all my best…

Dream 286: A Woman in her twenties had a recurrent dream that she woke up in a room with a man sleeping next to her. A noise caught her attention. She leaned over the man to see a little girl playing on the floor.
She woke the man up who picked up the little girl. The little girl had been playing with books. She looked at her book while sitting on the man’s lap. The little girl was a beautiful child that had hair so soft the dreamer could not resist touching her hair.
The dreamer asked the man who the beautiful little girl was. He had an amazing smile on his face as he said to the dreamer that the little girl was hers. As he handed the toddler to the dreamer, the child wrapped her arms around the dreamer’s neck.
The dreamer then felt that she knew exactly who the little girl was. She knew now with conviction that the little girl was hers. She felt joyously elated.
The dreamer was visited by her Divine Child archetype. The Divine Child is usually a little girl often with blonde hair and blue eyes (not necessarily) between the ages of 3 and 10 years old. She represented the dreamer’s hopes and dreams for the future.
At the first level of dream interpretation, each character in a dream represents part of the dreamer’s mind. Men typically go with actions; women usually go more with emotions. This is not absolutely so, but it is usually the case.
Thus, the man in the dream and the child together represent her mature actions energized by her hopes and dreams, the Divine Child archetype. The thought is that she recently decided on actions that will further her hopes and dreams. The inclusion of books suggest a thoughtful, intelligent or academic decision might be part of the scenario. The dreamer is to be congratulated.
Only the dreamer knows enough of the details of her life to be able to apply this interpretation to her interpersonal life. The man in the dream is significant in a positive way. He is the heroic masculine archetype. His appearance is often good news because it means the dreamer is ready to take positive action in life. His motto is “to serve and protect.”
It is no wonder that this dream made the dreamer feel joyous. Usually a dreamer at this stage begins to know what they want and are ready to take steps to actualize their life. The fact that this was a recurrent dream means that this dream is a “big dream.”
Recurrent dreams are big dreams that mean more than other dreams. That is because the dream is addressing repetitive issues in the dreamer’s life. Recurrent dreams make repeated attempts to get the message to the dreamer until the dreamer “gets it.”

Dream 272: Nostalgic for Lust Emotions A 60-year-old man dreamed of an image of a woman who was a combination of two women he had sex with in his early twenties. One woman was an Olympic gymnast who he never really got over. The other was a twenty-something woman who he later discovered was married and used him for sex because her husband was physically disabled. In the dream, he saw himself trying to please this vibrant woman. He had the feeling in the dream, that no matter how hard he tried, the beautiful woman would not approve of him. He felt frustrated and downcast.
Interpretation He recently felt depressed over getting older. He totally appreciated his loving wife, but was no longer able to do what he could do physically and sexually as a young man. At the first level of dream interpretation, women usually represent the dreamer’s emotions, while men (himself) represent an action part of his mind. The dream spoke to the heart of his depression. He was nostalgic for the emotional complexity and physical lust of his relationships as a young adult. That those days were gone was the source of chronic depression. He knew he was lucky to have a loving wife and would never hurt her. He was facing the challenge of old age. He wanted to find other ways to reinvigorate his life without losing what he had gained.

A man dreamed that he died because he was attacked by zombies. His spirit rose above the zombies but he was still able to be in the physical world. He killed one zombie by cutting his throat with garden shears.
A random zombie head somehow moving toward him bit him in the leg. He cut the zombie head in half.
Interpretation: Zombies are almost always depression. Zombies are the “living dead” which is the way major depression can feel. At the first level of dream interpretation, each character represents a part of the dreamer’s psyche or mind. So the dream is announcing that this dream will be about how he handles his depression.
Death in a dream typically means that the dreamer has to change in a major way. In other words, there is a part of the mind that needs to be shelved or “die.” The dream is saying that his new self (his spirit) needs to rise above his depression (the zombies).
The first zombie he kills (the first factor he needs to change) is negative or depressing speech. We know this because speech emanates from the throat. It is interesting that he uses garden shears.
Garden shears get rid of growth (plants). The dream is dramatically saying in regard to his negative speech, that he needs to “cut it out.”
The second zombie is intellectuallization. The dream is saying that he literally is too much in his head. The dream wants him to cut his depressive thinking at least by half.

Dream 190: I’m Depressed to Avoid Being Aggressive
A 44-year-old man dreamt that he was sitting on a couch. Little wild, furry and aggressive creatures were trying to climb up the back of the couch. A high school friend was leaning over him and protecting him from the creatures. Every so often the friend slapped a creature so that it fell down the back of the couch.
Dream 190 Interpretation
The furry aggressive creatures represented instinctive aggression. He described the high school friend as chronically depressed. The dream is saying that he becomes depressed to avoid becoming aggressive. At work, he was very irritated by all the little squabbles he had to deal with in customer service.

A 64-year-old woman dreamt of three trees. Then she saw herself and a friend she had as a teenager looking at maps in a geography book. This high school friend was very similar to the dreamer when she was a teenager.
The friend was extroverted and fun to be around. The dreamer was extroverted prior to the death of her father when she was twenty-six. The dreamer fell into depression and dysthymia after her father’s death.
Dream 181 Interpretation
The three trees at the beginning are significant. The number three is the number of change as three people in a relationship makes for an unstable situation. Trees are a primary symbol of integration as trees are with us on earth, open to the sky and send roots deep under ground representing the union of spiritual, physical, and subconscious realms. The dream announced at the outset that it was going to be about changes she could make to feel more integrated within herself.
The good friend who was the same age as her was really a doubling of the dreamer. When the dream wants to emphasize something, it gives you two or three of the same. Her friend represented her social and extroverted self which was missing in action since her father died.
She and the friend looking at maps in a geography book was advice to travel, in this case since the dreamer recently bought a passport for no conscious reason. When one does something that seems inexplicable, it is an sign that the subconscious is at work. The dream and her inexplicable purchase of the passport were telegraphing the message that travelling might help her return to the cheery extroverted part of herself.

A twenty-eight year old man dreamed that he was on a ship which navigated to an island. When he went onto the island, there was a path covered with an ongoing bamboo mat which led to a vibrantly green and lush jungle. There was a large muscular brute of a man blocking his way down the path.
The dream then shifted to his being on board the ocean liner which was anchored near the island. There were two huge pipes that were large enough for a man to walk in. The devil appeared and said that they should race down each pipe to see who gets to the island first. He then saw himself lying on the beach with the island in the distant horizon. A cloud formed over him and rained upon him.
Dream 130 Interpretation
This was an early therapy dream. He was navigating his subconscious to find a new path in life. The bamboo paving the way to his growth was the recent growth within him that allowed him to even consider therapy. The lush jungle represented the new growth he was considering. The brute of a man was his earlier macho man attitude which is similar to the savage masculine archetype. The devil represented his shadow because he really “raised hell” when he was younger. His shadow was encouraging him to race towards change and was trying to inspire his get up and go.
Sitting on the beach means that he was in that area between the subconscious ocean and conscious land. He was backing away and distancing himself from therapy. The dream assured him that staying away from therapy would not be pleasant and would result in depression (represented by the rain).
