Dream 497: When I’m nice, I get taken advantage of
A woman had the following dream:
I need help interpreting a dream. Well, actually two of them. 1- I don’t remember most of it, but the part that stands out was I had found the cat eating a mouse. I took it out of the cat’s mouth and found another mouse in that mouses mouth, so I grabbed it by the tail and pulled it out of the mouse’s mouth. It squirmed and fell and landed on my tongue, and all i could taste was mouse….very weird! 2- I was with Jeff (my hubby) and was explaining to him that if we couldn’t get along, then we needed to be friends because we are going to be raising these kids. I’d rather them see us as friends who respect each other rather than fighting. He was like “ok,” and suddenly there was some other woman there who was with him. Then I woke up and wanted to lose it on him, but realized I was just dreaming, and he”d have no idea why I was freaking out. So what do you think?
Animals usually represent instincts in dreams. A cat is a predator. A mouse is a vegetarian and is a peaceful creature. You are a rescuer. So the cat, in this particular instance, but not generally, represents your predatory or anger instincts. It consumes or overtakes your peaceful instincts. But what surprises you is that the peaceful creature you are trying to rescue, is trying to kill or be a predator to its own kind.
The second dream is a repeat of the first dream, only less graphically and symbolically. Your instinct to fight or contend with your hubby is replaced by a peaceful instinct to be friends. But you are betrayed by a predatory woman (or the predations or aggressiveness of your husband).
In both cases, you start out by trying to be a peacemaker, and then find out that you were betrayed, that your efforts to be peaceful resulted in your being preyed upon.
In one case, trying to replace your anger with peacemaking results in your being preyed upon by your own kind. In the human case, your efforts to make peace with your husband leads to fears that you’re going to be taken advantage of.
All of which leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
