Formica Coriandolo has been a lucid dreamer with a passion for the dream realm since she was a child. At the age of 21 she moved to Damanhur – Federation of Spiritual Communities – in Italy, where she deepened her natural talent in lucid dreaming under the tutelage of Damanhur’s spiritual founder, Falco Tarassaco, from whom she learned how to travel through various dimensions of the dream realm.
An artist in the fields of sculpture, painting, art glass and music, she has created many of the renowned works of art in the Temples of Humankind and been the composer of many of the primary Damanhurian lyrics, inspired by the mythology of the community. Dreams and art have intertwined in her life: from her personal experience as a self-taught artist she founded and managed a successful seminar course called “Discover Your Inner Talent,” as well as “The Path of the Dreams.” Her dream course has inspired students globally, through her transmission of her experience and knowledge in an accessible and engaging way. ”
“It’s always the last day of high school and the building is clearing out. The hallway is trashed. I’m getting my stuff out of my locker and going to my car. The hallways still have a few other students in it. I’ve had this dream before. What does it mean? Thanks”
It seems that dreams are fascinated with high school. I believe this is for two reasons. The main one being that it is a play on the words “high school.”
Dreams, I believe, look at high school as a metaphor for “a school for our higher self.” It is also because this is a major developmental stage in life that sets the foundation for all else that happens the rest of our lives.
I believe your subconscious is giving you a vote of confidence. I believe you have probably learned many lessons for your higher self.
This is encouragment to not dwell in the past, to clean out your locker and get in your vehicle and go forward in life.
If it were my dream, it sounds like it is encouragment to go forward when your subconscious feels that you’ve learned all the lessons from a situation, that your higher self needed to learn from a situation.
It sounded like it is a repetitive dream. Repetitive dreams are big dreams, because you’ve once again reached a stage that has happened before, a place where your subconscious feels that you’ve learned all that you can from a given situation and should move on.
So in that way, when you have a dream like this, it is both giving you recognition for what you’ve accomplished, and gives you encouragement to move forward.

“In this dream there was a woman wearing her ring on her left index finger. I asked her “are you married”, and she said yes. It was a gold wedding band. She told me that she used to wear it on her right index finger but due to swelling she had to take it off and switch to the left index finger. I told her that it’s still wrong if she’s married it should be on her left ring finger, and I told her why. I explained the heart vein finger thing, and she switched it and said thank you.
I looked up a couple of interpretations online and I don’t have my book right now so all of it is kind of jumbled. Does anybody have any insight? All is welcomed.”
There are several unusual things about this dream and when there is something out of the ordinary or not customary in a dream, the question becomes, why did the dream find it necessary to do that? Men tend to go with the dreamer’s actions while women tend to go with the dreamer’s emotions. Marriage represents the union of the dreamer’s actions with the dreamer’s emotions. A marriage represents a state of integration or having your stuff together.
A ring is a symbol of commitment. It’s made from a precious material, gold. It is circular and a circle usually represents the soul, because it has no beginning and no ending. A gold wedding band represents a precious soul commitment.
The wedding band is usually worn on the left ring finger which is the finger closest to the little finger. It started out this way because the Romans believed that the ring finger vein went directly to the heart. But this ring is worn on the index or pointer finger. Further, it is being worn on the right index finger before she is corrected.
The pointer finger points you in the right direction. The left tends to go with subconscious feelings. The right tends to go with conscious actions. Your finger swells when you been doing something too much.
I believe the dream is giving advice. The complicated part comes in when you realize that the woman in the dream represents the dreamer’s emotions.
I believe that what the dream may be saying is that the dreamer has been investing himself in conscious actions too much. The dream is screaming that he needs to take his direction from his subconscious feelings and emotions more, to go with what feels right at a soul level. Depending on your situation, it may be making recommendations about recent decisions, that it wants you to look at your inner feelings and motivations, more than what is expedient or convenient.
It is a big dream, talking about your soul commitments.

Dreams were one of the many things I used to send multiple sclerosis into complete remission. The book that describes how I did this is at https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_21?k=multiple+sclerosis+mission+remission&sprefix=Multiple+Sclerosis+Mi&crid=30FSMZV7P0E8P
I had an interesting dream.I was walking alone on the shoulder of a highway it seemed little traffic,I heard a man’s voice say move or do you want to get hit by a car. Then I turned my back, and there was a three-car accident. All three cars were white.
I said to myself that I could have been in that car, oh my my! What if John (my son) is in that car! I started walking towards that wreck.
Before the accident, there was a white truck that passed by when I heard the mans voice but I never saw the person, the box truck just passed by me.
The important thing about this dream is that you are an observer in the dream. The dream is possibly giving advice. There’s three cars is so we think that it means something spiritual or on a higher plane.
A car is how you get somewhere in life. The dream implies that there’s three courses of action that are on a collision course to one another and that you best be an observer or be a witness and stay out of it.
Your son in the dream could represent a course of action by yourself, personal to yourself. It is in doubt whether he is in the accident though.
The important thing is you may be trying to involve yourself in a situation where you may not really be involved, but are drawn to it like a moth to a flame because you think you are directly personally impacted. This situation could involve your son and, but that is on the interpersonal level, and tends to be less reliable. If it does involve your son it is a example of condensation, but which may or may not be occurring, I don’t know enough of the details to be able to see that but maybe you do. Anyway, if he is not involved, the situation would seem to involve work actions that you take at work, because the man’s voice comes from a truck which is a box truck which is usually a working truck.
The primary thing I would get from this dream is be careful about involving yourself in situations where people is higher goals are on a collision course and things are going to change, but if you stay out of the situation, you will be okay. You will be tempted to throw yourself into the situation because you think you are involved, but you probably are not. I may be best stay on the sidelines, or on the shoulder, or even get further away from it.

A young person with MS asked for advice about how to cope with having multiple sclerosis–this was my answer:
Let me say first that I appreciate and agree with much of what has already been answered; however, I am going to give you a more hopeful answer, based on 26 years of living with this disease. I was on all the ABC-R medications, but continued to get steadily worse. By the time I had it for 10 years, it was evident that it was primary progressive multiple sclerosis by the intensity of the symptoms.
I had a plastic brace the length of my right leg, numbness in arms and legs, used a four-point cane, and needed a wheelchair for anything like flying and going to the airport. If I ventured out to see sights like Las Vegas, I was able to see the sights only because kind relatives pushed me around in a wheelchair.
Then the beginning of what I now call my “functional healing” started when I found an experimental treatment my neurologist at Barrow Neurological Institute agreed to do with me involving steroids and cytoxan. The whole thing is too complex to describe here as it was concurrent with I say about twenty other alternative treatments. This whole mix of Western medicine, Eastern approaches and methods, and generally healthy things to do is described in a book I am writing which is called “Multiple Sclerosis Mission Remission: Healing MS Against All Odds.”
The critical thing to know is that I believe MS is probably due to a large number of converging factors. Make medicine your base and aid it with alternative methods that do no harm and can do a lot of good. I still have MS, but MS does not have me. At this time, I have no major symptoms after 26 years, but that does not mean you stop taking the medicine.
I continued to have Tysabri infusions every six weeks, am married, and have a full time private practice as a clinical psychologist. I started a new medication which is an infusion that you only have to take twice per year. The research on it is very promising and positive. It is called Ocrevus. I have a blog where I mostly interpret dreams, but now will also post sometimes about my book about my MS experience.
It is an overwhelming diagnosis. Give yourself time and develop whatever spirituality you have. Medicine + alternative approaches + good relationships + spirituality + meaningful work was my personal formula to functional healing. Some part of that might be part of your solution. My book is really about some ways of finding what is right for you which will be personally unique.
A woman had a dream that she was standing in a bucket and was being lowered into a water well. She wondered what the dream meant.
A famous Jungian dream analyst had a dream that she saw a flower grow out of a water well. The flower had to grow about 40 ft before it reached the surface and could then prosper. She wrote books for 20 years before getting one published. Her books then became best sellers and she had a whole slough of books to publish. Her name is Marion Woodman.
She always saw the dream as indicating that she had beautiful growth within her that would take a long time to emerge out into the world so it ended up being a predictive dream.
For some reason, you are being immersed in your emotions to get fully in touch with your subconscious and who you are at a root level would be part of my guess.
Another woman thought she should have as much fun as she can. She thought the dream was indicating or even recommending that the dreamer have a bucket list of things that she wanted to do. Movement downward usually represents movement towards the subconscious and the Soul, if you will.
It may well be her soul’s urging to do the things she wants before it’s too late, before she dies. Water is virtually always emotions in dream. She is being submerged into her emotions.

Dream 477: Your subconscious wants to take you higher
A woman was having nightmares about high school continuously. She wondered what this could mean.
I’ve noticed that people of all ages like to use high school in their dreams, or their dreams like to use the high school setting. I believe it is because it is a formative time of personality.
I also think the dream is making a play of words on it being a high school, a school for your higher self. If you are having constant nightmare scenes involving high school, without knowing further content, I would guess that there are some Shadow aspects to your personality that you have not integrated into your higher self.
I would guess that the nightmares represent a struggle to try to come to some terms as to how to integrate sexual and aggressive parts of your personality into your higher self. Dreams are often an extension of problems we try to consciously work on during the day.
Her nightmares probably mean that some basic aspects of her life are
akilter, but it is hard to know which areas of her life are involved without her describing more content.

“This is one of the unforgettable dreams. From long ago as I feel it has great relevance today. I’m in college. 1990. I’m waiting at night time on football bleachers with several others. We are just waiting, it’s quiet, still. All very calm. I look over at the small family beside me. A mother with and her two children. All bright angel blonde hair with big blue eyes, all wearing glasses which magnified their eyes to huge blue orbs. Sweet, tender kind faces. “Are you afraid? I asked the little boy. “No.” He answered. He was calm and looked anxious almost in anticipation. His mother gently smiled. In my uncertain anxiousness, this brought me comfort. If he was not afraid, then surely there was nothing to fear. Still I waited gazing out into the huge empty football field, as we sat waiting patiently for what God only knew. I glanced over to my left to then notice a ship or craft had landed. A huge white disc, lowering it’s front ramp without sound onto the night lawn. Soon people, ordinary people, humans began to slowly file out slowly off the ramp onto Earth. Individuals to small families. They appeared to have been gone for a while, some 10, 20, 30 years or more years perhaps. Returning from a trip quietly and sullenly as if waking out of a dream yet unmoved as they were gently lead off the craft. There was no rush in their movement. Languid and lilt. As if taking in sights as a new born might. Looking around, taking it in. Soon they approached us. We and the small blonde haired boy were excited. “Did you like it? What was it like?” They seemed unperturbed calm and unexcited. “Yes, it was long time, glad or happy to be back.” (To that affect.)The boy and I looked on anxiously. As brave as I started out I suddenly hesitated. He was not afraid but I was not as so certain. He was ready, I was not so much. He ran over to the craft pulling me with him. “Come on let’s go.” It was he and I who ventured where the silent ship awaited. No one at all to be seen just a lowered ramp entrance where the others had exited. All I recall from that moment was a view of Earth from space. She was lovely and suddenly the globe had become an image of a diagram divided into slices. The ship’s attendant then asked: “What do you see? “In each of the ‘slices’ were planetary issues.
“What about Peace?” I asked the attendant wearing all black and what appeared to be a black space helmet. I could not see him or his features but I felt a very kind benevolence from him and towards him, though it was definitely all business.
“There will be.” He answered.
That was it. Mission accomplished. (For them) I still had a lingering deep concern in that no longer feeling the excitement I
had started out with but an overwhelming sadness and concern for Earth and the future of humanity.
I suddenly felt the very serious and heavy pressure of responsibility.
I recall the interior of the ship immaculate. Everything was a clean shiny white. Simple. Quiet. A space hum. It seemed once the questioning was over, that was it.
I was free to go.
And that was it as I observed the moments on board. Absorbing what I could. For it was incredibly peaceful and yet not abode but a craft traveling through space and time.
Business, professional, serious and responsible. That was the image that presented. Gentle. Kind. Quiet.
Upon leaving I was escorted to the ramp and lead down onto the green where I was happy to be back on Earth, but feeling older and with a little more kindness gentleness love and concern for this beautiful planet we call “home.”
Thank you~ May your dreams carry you to new destinations filled with hope and inspiration. :)”
Observations regarding the dream
This is a very “big” dream that is meaningful and was important for your future life course. I would only add that the children were the Divine Child archetype.
The Divine Child is the part of us that contains our hopes, desires, and aspirations for the future. The little boy would go more with your actions. The Divine Child archetype frequently has blonde hair and blue eyes in Western cultures.
What is being played out here, is your subconscious is laying out the design of what you could do in the future. It obviously wanted you to travel far and to experience realms that you could only imagine.
A UFO or spaceship is a mandala of divine possibility. The white is the most spiritual color there is. It is shaped in a round disc which is a symbol of the Soul. Your subconscious was laying out the pattern it wanted you to follow in your life.
I believe the man with the black helmet was your soul or subconscious talking directly to you to make sure you got the message.

“I am posting for a friend, because when she recalls her dreams, they usually mean something. They use imagery, symbolism and metaphors.
In the first part of her dream, she had to contain a room full of snakes without hurting any. That’s about it…
In the second part of the same dream, she was on ‘Earth’ but there were human-animal hybrids that imprisoned and ruled over humanity. They were protected from the ‘end’.
The moon was to collide with the planet, but as it hit, the sky flickered like a hologram, and the world leaders announced a failed nuclear detonation. They were trying to destroy the planet but blame something else.
The hybrids stand out to me:
-A strange form of centaur that was half horse, but half were-wolfish
-A form of pegasi that had bat wings
-Human-Lioness hybrids. White/blonde
The first part of a dream sequence usually announces what the dream is going to be about. Snakes almost invariably represent change. What is interesting about this is that she’s not worried about the snakes hurting her, she wanted to be careful to not hurt the snakes.
A snake is considered, broadly speaking, to be an animal. Animals usually represent our instincts. It is interesting that she wants to be careful not to damage her instincts which is unusual and bodes well for her, I believe. As we treat ourselves so we tend to treat others, and I would suspect that she is a very considerate type of person. So the dream is announcing that this sequence is going to be about change and how she handles her instincts, making sure not to damage her groundedness.
One can’t help but like the hybrids part of this dream. It represents instincts that are well-controlled.
In fact, I believe this series of dreams is all about her concern over controlling her instincts. Fortunately, I think the dream delivers mostly good news on this account. She is a very diverse person with well-controlled instincts. Let me take them one by one.
The Avians are like birds and usually represent freedom, i.e., “free as a bird.” Freud was right on a few things, and one of the things he was right about is that a horse usually goes with female sexual power. But this is a centaur, which is half human, which would normally indicate that her sexuality instincts are usually well-controlled; however, this centaur is half-horse and half were-wolf-like. That would indicate that she is worried about the wild side of her sexuality.
I think of the pegasi as a magical flying horse. So this would probably represent the magical power of sensuality.
The human lioness image is powerful. It is always good to have powerful animals in your dream. She has a lot of psychic energy that can be used for good. A lioness is Queen of the Jungle and actually does all of the hunting while the King of the Jungle sleeps. To me this would imply that she has a solid work ethic and maternal instincts.
The white & blonde color is interesting. White is the most spiritual color, while blonde is considered to be an ideal quality of the feminine and Divine Child in Western culture.
The Moon is usually thought of as going with subconscious emotional impulses that are somewhat in the dark. The Moon is literally colliding with the Earth which is a way of saying what she fears what will happen if her subconscious instincts are actualized, i.e., what will happen if her instincts become grounded and actualized in reality.
The Hologram is interesting. Any piece of a hologram will reflect the whole hologram. So in some sense a hologram is indestructible. I think the dream is trying to reassure her that her world doesn’t come to an end because of subconscious conflicts and change going on in her life.
Fire goes with change because fire changes matter into energy. A nuclear explosion is super fire or super change.
I think part of this involves the dream trying to reassure her that her world doesn’t come to an end if she becomes somewhat more instinctually uninhibited.
The world leaders are the opposite of the instinctive parts of herself. They actually think about destroying the world when they are supposed to be the leaders of the world. In other words, they are so logical that they make no sense. Does this sound like her parents?
This dream is partially a cautionary tale of rationalization and logic going too far, which she will not do because she honors her instincts highly. On the other hand, safe sex should be practiced to prevent a detonation.
Dreams can help one get in touch with instincts at http://www.drstevenfox.com
People in my practice frequently describe a young girl, from ages say five to ten years old, who keeps appearing in their dreams. They are typically mystified by this. It is especially disturbing to fully heterosexual men when they dream of kissing them or having even closer intimacy.
Welcome to the Divine Child archetype. It is usually a girl because women tend to go more with emotional parts of your mind. (At the first level, each character represents a part of your psyche.) The Divine Child is usually a young girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. The reason for this is that those physical features are the stereotypical ideal feminine features in Western culture.
Other cultures may have different idealized features. For example, Hispanic cultures tend to idealize dark hair with brown eyes.
Sex in dreams at the first level represents different parts of your mind integrating. Kissing or being intimate with the Divine Child, in this case, represents integrating your hopes/dreams into your life with your behavior, actions and emotions. The younger the Divine Child in the dream, the less developed is a particular hope or dream that you have.
Dreams have a logic that can be learned at http://www.drstevenfox.com
“I’m standing on a high bridge whose poles are made of small pieces of clouds. I don’t know how they can keep this whole weight. I don’t see that its something real.I can see on the bridge, now it s forming a kind of egg-shaped plate, greenish color as it has a mild vibration. Beside me it opens a small hole through which it is possible to see a lot of green trees and vegetation which is so thick that i can t see the ground .
This bridge connects two big trees through which flows some kind of electricity, or something like that, and the bridge is feeding them. The trees bend their branches as if they have conscience. Then one of the branches wants me to sit on it.
I’m climbing and at the moment I feel, I rise very quickly in the air. It discharges me from itself, so high above. I’m falling through the hole on the bridge. I’m wearing on my back a bright green disk color that is slowing me downhill between trees. It’s like I’m not from matter anymore. I’m completely empty, and I now know that I’m made of air and light.”
A disk or circle in my world usually symbolizes the Soul because it has no beginning and no end. Green is growth because it is the color of plants. Trees are major symbols of integration in my world. Bridges are passages in life, going from one stage or area of life to another.
Holy naturalness! Everything in this dream is natural. It sounds like you are probably a very integrated and natural person who might be in the process of bridging two major areas, practices or teachings, or people in your life.
There are two concerns I might consider about this dream. One is the clouds that seemingly cannot support the bridge. The other is the tree ejecting you on high.
When I try to make sense of this dream, I think that it is indicating that the two areas of your life are already naturally bridged. I see it as less concerned about bridging those areas, beliefs or practices in your life because they have already been bridged.
The dream might see you as having very noble goals, but may want you to come down from the clouds and ground your goals in reality. The green disk assures us that you have the Soul and growth to bring these two major areas of integration to earth, to “ground” them, and bring your knowledge to others.

I was having trouble with my eyesight. Double vision was new for me. I was dropping things I held for no reason. My balance was unsteady and I would sometimes fall down seemingly for no reason. My wife, being the board certified psychiatrist that she is, insisted that I consult with a neurologist. Numerous tests and procedures were performed (to be described later). It was time for us to meet with the good doctor and hear the results.
When we went to obtain the results, the neurologist mumbled a few words at me and looked down at the floor while he spoke. I processed nothing of what he was saying to me. Repression is a remarkable phenomenon. He met with my wife for what seemed like a long time. Driving back from the doctor’s office to Arizona State University Student Health where my wife was the psychiatrist on the eating disorders team, Debby was uncharacteristically quiet.
When we drove into Student Heath and I stopped the car to let her out, I found out why.
“Well, I guess we will keep trying to figure out what is going on with me,” I said with resignation. “What are you talking about? The MS looks severe,” she said. Deborah never suffered a fool well.
“MS?” I innocently queried.
With disbelief Dr. Deborah Brogan said, “Didn’t he tell you that you have MS, multiple sclerosis?”
“What?” I asked.
Debby, answered, “You heard me. The doctor said you have multiple sclerosis.”
So it began, my fifteen-year journey through purgatory. I thought I must have made serious mistakes in a previous life. At the time it seemed as good an explanation as any for why I contracted multiple sclerosis, MS.
It turns out that I probably contracted multiple sclerosis because of conditions I endured in this lifetime which would include the cold climate I was born into in the Midwest, abuse as a child, drinking too much diet coke with aspartame, frequently having bronchitis, genetics, getting into a car accident when I was a 31-year-old, working out in a hot karate studio, etc. MS is a syndrome which I believe is ignited by a host of various factors coming together. I believe it to be the exception, rather than the rule, for multiple sclerosis in a particular person to be due mainly to only one causative factor. I think that is why MS must be fought on numerous fronts—it probably was caused by the totality of your life and now is affecting every aspect of your life.
At the time, I thought that I just wanted to return to my old self, the “I” your ego thinks of you as being. I never accepted the MS as being the real me. It was an adversary sent to test the real me. Little did I know how much my real self was going to change because of the battle, no the war, with multiple sclerosis.

“I had a dream last night. In the dream there was a plum tree with 5 orangutans. They had their backs to me. Then my father picked me up and ran with me because there was a lot of sand coming at us from behind. Then we tumbled and I was carrying my father. Then we ran to a truck and rode the sand waves.
What’s this mean ?”
This is a very interesting dream. A tree is a symbol of integration because its roots grow in the ground, it opens to the sky, and it is here on the level with us. The plum tree has several meanings in my world. First off, a plum is a fruit and a food that nurtures you. Also a plum is usually something especially appealing like a plum job.
I would guess that the orangutans are barriers to getting something favorable that nurtures you. Animals usually represent instincts, the dreamer’s instincts. In this case, I think the dream is signaling that too much monkeying around is keeping you from getting something you want that would be favorable to you like a plum position of some kind. I think the orangutan instinct is interfering because I think it represents “monkeying around.”
Sand usually represents impermanence as it can be blown around and it never provides a solid foundation. You do not want to just build sand castles as goals in your life to my way of thinking. From that standpoint, it can be seen as insecurity.
Your father in the dream represents an action part of your mind as men tend to go with actions. Fathers most often are the basis of your actions to some degree. Your carrying your father might mean that you need to be supportive of your actions you are taking to avoid being insecure and wanting to build your future into a more secure and semi-permanent situation. You may want to build something in your life that is not subject to the shifting sands of time.
It also has significance that there are five orangutans. In my world, five usually represents adding something on to your stable self (4 is a stable number and five is literally adding something to your stable self as 1+4=5.
I think the dream is wanting you to take life more seriously, stop monkeying around, and support your actions towards building something more permanent in your life.
In my world, trucks are associated with work and you escape the sand on a truck. I think the dream is saying that you have to work to build a future worth having.

Dream 446: Wondering about carrying my baggage into the future
A woman had the following dream:
“I had a dream that I was at an airport waiting to be called for my flight. Then I was called, and I got up and picked up my black bag.I think I was traveling with my youngest son…”
There is something almost spiritual about flight and usually has to do with your overall life goals. Picking up a bag could mean that you were worried about carrying “baggage” into your future. That your youngest son is in the dream usually means that you’re probably considering making some fairly major change. Each person in a dream is usually a part of your mind at the first level. Boys tend to go with actions while girls usually go more with emotions. That isn’the absolute, but is usually the case.
You are probably worried about how “baggage” from the past might affect that move. Unless you actually have a black bag, the color in this case could signal being worried about negative or depressing baggage being carried into your future. The type of action you may be considering would be related to the personality of your youngest son.
It is also possible that it is the condensation of two levels of the dream in the sense that the decision could involve your youngest son in some sense or how it would affect him. Again, the main thing is taking some action for your overall life goes intowards the future and being worried about carrying baggage into the future and how that baggage might affect your future.
The dreamer later indicated that she had been looking for a job and was wondering how that would affect her and her youngest son’s future.

A 36-year-old fine arts professor dreamt that he was on the patio of a Mexican restaurant. There was a wasp’s nest above the kidney shaped bar. Suddenly, a wasp flew down and stung him in the head. The dream shifted to him listening to a waittress. She was telling him about a long sordid affair she had with a professor.
This professor recently received job offers from colleges in Ohio and California. WASP also stands for White Anglo Saxon Protestant. I asked him which college was more conservative. He replied that the college in Ohio was much more conservative and he did not know if it would tolerate his avant-garde teaching style and research. I asked him what he associated with Mexican restaurants, and he replied California. I asked him what was the biggest mistake he ever made in his field, and he replied that he regretted a decision not to attend a college in California. That she, the waittress had a sordid affair with a professor indicated that his emotions (the waitress) had been untrue to his intellectual decisions (the male professor)—this was highlighted by the fact that he regretted not going to college in California/
The dream voted in the direction of the college in California. His subconscious exclaimed that a conservative atmosphere was hard on his head and thinking. A restaurant in a dream nurtures one psychologically, and the dream is saying that, for him, California is much more likely to be nurturing.
The female waittress is a part of his work emotions. In dreams, a waittress is often seen as “one who waits.” He told me consciously that his biggest career mistake was not attending a learning institution in California. The waittress is talking about an emotional mistake with a professor. The dream is warning him about making sincere and solid emotional connections. The dream is screaming that he needs to attend a learning institution in California.

My daughter had a dream that she had went into a bag to pull out some grocery and all of a sudden a three-headed snake pop up out the bag and her daughter got scared and start hiding behind her and she tried to chop off the snake heads and it wouldn’t chop off. What is the meaning of this dream…
In dreams groceries (food) is psychological support or nurture usually. A snake represents change because it’s one of the few animals to shed its skin. The change probably involves three difficult choices or people the dreamer has to use their head to select from– since she was trying to cut off the head of the snake which also implies that she really doesn’t want to decide, but because she could not cut the heads off, she must decide.
It is probably an emotional decision as her daughter might represent her inner Emotional Self that she wants to hide. This is taking her daughter as the average little girl and assuming that she has no problems or outstanding characteristics which would influence what she is trying to hide emotionally. This is said without knowing her and represents possible guesses that occurred to me off the top of my head.

“I had another one where a large tornado was in front of me, but this was an unusual tornado, because it had lightning inside of it and a large glowing orb on top of it. Which was where the lightning was coming from. It seemed like a quick dream, but it was the only one I could remember from that night.”
Tornadoes are a powerful natural force which like sex/relationships can sweep you off your feet and dramatically change your life. Lightning is a powerful natural force that implies instant electric change (lightning being electrified fire if you will). Circles are associated with the soul because they have no beginning and no end.
Orbs are circular light and there is a kind of spirituality or awe associated with them as in “I see the light.” This dream is either recognizing or predicting instant natural change from natural forces or relationships that disrupts your homeostasis and gives you a sense of almost spiritual awe.

“I have been having dreams of horned owls surrounding me. I have my hands and face up, and these owls are just flying around me. I am standing in a field and I am wearing a white dress and have really long hair. There’s a breeze and my hair is blowing around me. The owls are all different colors and sizes.” Someone please tell me what this signifies.”
Owls are associated with wisdom. Flying frequently signals spirituality or trying to reach spiritual goals. White is the most spiritual color that there is.
The way she is holding her hands is frequently seen at religious services. She is dressed in almost ceremonial garb with the wind blowing through her hair emphasizing naturalness and freedom.
The owls being different colors and sizes is important because colors represent different emotions. The size of the owl probably signifies the importance of different spiritual ideas.
Owls make the sound of “who.” I wonder if the dream is saying that you are wisely trying to find out who you are at a spiritual level, what thoughts, ideas, and feelings are important to you.

The following was written by Father Augustine and may represent the Catholic Church’s stance on dreams:
“The Nature of Dreams A dream is an illusory psychic activity, particularly of a visual nature that occurs during sleep. It is essentially a psychological phenomenon with many philosophical, religious and moral implications.
Scientific findings on dreams have shown them to involve perception, creative and reproductive imagination, association of ideas and images, memory and emotion. Thinking and reasoning may also occur in dreams but on a superficial and uncritical level (this is important in relation to the moral relevance of what one does in the midst of a dream). At times one is aware of a type of “choosing” within dreams — such as resistance to temptation; however, such “willed acts” do not stem from a free decision-making ability but rather from behavioral habits and automatic responses.
The critical powers of the mind such as reality testing and decision making are greatly impaired in dreaming, which accounts for the incoherent and chaotic nature of many dreams. In a dream the distinction between reality and imagination is totally lost or at least impaired. Dreams can be natural or supernatural.
If they are supernatural then their origin lies in God, angels or demons. Dreams can also be induced by hypnosis. What causes dreams can seldom be traced to one well defined external or internal stimulus. Rather, they are brought about my many interacting factors of a perceptual, emotional, motivational and physiological nature.
Dreaming occurs in cycles following the fluctuation of sleep stages. It appears when the dreamer emerges from the stage of deep sleep. In an average night’s sleep a person dreams from 1 to 2 hours with dreams distributed in three to five periods, lasting from 20 to 30 minutes, and each sleep period followed at intervals of about 90 minutes.
Dreams are primarily made up of visual imagery. Most of the images are black and white. The content of dreams is usually very personal and intimate, and has to do with one’s attitudes toward oneself and toward important people in one’s environment.
In terms of emotional content, dreams range from ecstatic fantasies to nightmares. There is a preponderance of unpleasant dreams caused by fear, anger or sadness. Dreams of sex and aggression are quite frequent.”
My views do not conflict with the Catholic Church; however, I do take a more expanded view of dreams which I think is acceptable to nearly every religion. I also like Buddhists’ view of reality and dreams.

The great Rumi shows his profound understanding of life:
“THE DREAM THAT MUST BE INTERPRETED
This place is a dream.
Only a sleeper considers it real.
Then death comes like dawn,
and you wake up laughing
at what you thought was your grief.
But there’s a difference with this dream.
Everything cruel and unconscious
done in the illusion of the present world,
all that does not fade away at the death-waking.
and it must be interpreted.
All the mean laughing,
all the quick, sexual wanting,
those torn coats of Joseph,
they change into powerful wolves
that you must face.
The retaliation that sometimes comes now,
the swift, payback hit,
is just a boy’s game
to what the other will be.
You know about circumcision here.
It’s full castration there!
And this groggy time we live,
this is what it’s like:
A man goes to sleep in the town where he has always lived
and he dreams he’s living in another town.
In the dream, he doesn’t remember
the town he’s sleeping in his bed in. He believes
the reality of the dream town.
The world is that kind of sleep.
The dust of many crumbled cities
settles over us like a forgetful doze,
but we are older than those cities.
We began as a mineral.
We emerged into plant life
and into the animal state, and then into being human,
and always we have forgotten our former states,
except in early spring when we slightly recall
being green again.
That’s how a young person turns
toward a teacher. That’s how a baby leans
toward the breast, without knowing the secret
of its desire, yet turning instinctively.
Humankind is being led along an evolving course,
through this migration of intelligences,
and though we seem to be sleeping,
there is an inner wakefulness
that directs the dream,
and that will eventually startle us back
to the truth of who we are.”

Dreams seem to have beneficial effects for the brain. Experiments have been performed where REM sleep (dream sleep) was not allowed, as they would wake up the sleepers whenever they reached the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) stage of sleep. When the dreamers were finally left alone, they made up for all the REM sleep missed previously.

There are certain types of dreams that fill the dreamer with a sense of sacred fear and wonder. These transcendental dreams were called “numinous dreams” by psychoanalyst Otto. They are closely related to vision dreams in which the person feels like it is closer to being an experience than a dream.
These vision dreams often occur after the death of a loved one. The person feels that the deceased communicates, often telepathically, a message that is meant to reassure the dreamer. Often in these vision dreams, the dreamer feels they can see, hear, smell and feel the deceased. This often takes place in the context of the dreamer feeling like they actually physically hugged the loved one who has passed.
Some of these numinous dreams involve angels and images of Jesus. I know a dreamer who regularly feels she visited heaven. Communication with spirits and guides who transmit messages about the dreamer’s life destiny is not uncommon.
The memorable thing about these dreams is the striking iconic imagery which can involve symbols which the dreamer can not dismiss. For instance, one such dream could involve the dreamer being shown his tombstone by a glorious angel. On his tombstone might be the moving image of the dreamer defeating Satan in battle by helping the poor and downtrodden.
The lighting and tone of these dreams often convey a spiritual white light that defines the sacredness of the moment. The dream memory becomes emblazoned in the dreamer’s mind as setting the destiny of what she is meant to accomplish in life.
You will hear persons talk about doing “spiritual warfare” in their dreams in which they respond to demons with the Word of God. These dreams often strike deep fear into the dreamer. They frequently view their lives as a spiritual struggle they are fated to endure.
It is often a realization of the will of God which can be sacred fear. It is a destiny from which they feel there is no escape. Wherever you go, there you are.

“I was in a library and the feeling of awe because of all the books and knowledge that are in them. I wanted to get a new book for new knowledge and couldn’t wait but then I spotted this gorgeous man. He was alluring. He had tan skin and long dark hair. He reminded me of my boyfriend from age 19 who was a Victorias Secret model. He was younger as well. The man looks back and our eyes connect and he notices me too.
I see he is talking to a woman. He’s smiling and quite friendly with her. We end up talking a bit with tons of flirting. He tells me to meet him upstairs where we can be alone for sex. While slipping out of the library I see him flirt with other women and they want him. I did not like the way he was so flirtatious to the other women but said to myself he still chose me.
I walk out of the library and to my surprise I am in a huge building. The walls are shiny gold. The ceilings are high. There is a stairwell that has marble stairs and shiny gold guardrails going up. I go up the stairs and find its an attic. When I walk in its nothing like where I came from. It’s dark, only one window and a humongous blow up matress. Dark wooden beams were on the ceiling for support in an angle. There on the mattress was the man completely naked and ready. I was very upset. I thought I was worth at least some sweet talk and romance.
He convinced me to sit by him but tried to just go for it. I kissed him but was hesitant. Then one of the workers came in and said we couldn’t be there so we had to leave aa if we were caught. He said to meet him later somewhere else. I said ok.
I went down and had to find the way out. I walked through this huge building and ran into what was a casino I believe. It had the machines with gold knobs on them. I thought how odd a casino was in there. I walked in for a minute but couldn’t walk through because I can’t stand the energy of casinos and people gambling.
I searched for another way out but couldn’t find one. I ended up walking through the casino and finally getting out. Exhausting.
Some friends pick me up and we drive around town for a bit. I keep thinking I told this man I’d meet him and didn’t think I wanted to. Hours later we ended up at some storage units where I was suppose to meet him.
I had given him my word so I was thinking I’d tell him I changed my mind but really I didn’t want to deal with it at all. But I kept going back and forth because he was so good looking, lol. I finally thought to myself that I was worth more than sex at a storage unit, how he had flirted with other women and it didn’t make me special that he chose me but probably gullible instead. Also that I wasn’t even worth some romance with the two places he had picked. I told myself no way, I didnt care how good looking he was bc this now made him ugly. I left knowing he’d be stood up. I woke.
I want to approach this dream from the point of view of each character in the dream being part of your mind.Men usually go more with actions and women going more with emotions usually.
The dream starts out in the library. Usually the way a dream starts out usually tells us what it’s going to be about. Right off the bat the dream is emphasizing learning and knowledge and you were flirting with the idea of gaining more knowledge. Having sex in a dream is a sign of integration. But this integration never really happens in this dream. The problem is that the man isn’t worth integrating with. He is a trickster, manipulator who does not have your best interest at heart.
This dream is a major caution against going after what looks good. The first place he wants to have sex with you is in a high place in an attic. A building frequently can correspond with the dreamer to some extent in which case this is talking about your mind and your higher ideals probably.
You are caught in the attic and asked to leave because there are other parts of yourself that do not want you to lower your standards.
Going to the casino is interesting. I think the dream is screaming that you don’t want to gamble yourself on shallow circumstances.
Being asked to have sex in storage units is not only doubling down on it being dingy and the lowering of your self esteem, but I think the dream is expressly saying it wants you to put this memory in storage, they want you to remember this lesson and not compromising yourself excessively.
All in all, the dream is emphasizing deepening yourself through learning and knowledge and warning you about rationalizing yourself into compromising situations. It is explicitly warning you about being lured by what looks good rather than gaining knowledge (the library).
My book about dream interpretation is at http://www.drstevenfox.com
“I was walking around a mall alone. I was going around and around the same shops like I was trying to find a special one but never could. Then I finally found it and it looked like a clothing and candle shop.
I went in immediately searching for a cobalt blue candle. I wanted the largest one I could find with 3 wicks. I was smelling them and the smells were vivid and I found one I wanted.
Then I was standing near the checkout and there were some long single chain necklaces. I searched thru them until I found a long gold chain with a feather charm on the end. I went to grab it but as I did some other woman grabbed it too. We debated for a bit who had it first and she let me have it.
So I went back to the checkout counter and realized I had lost my shoes. I had been wearing white socks with colorful Nike sandals. I don’t ever do that. But seemingly someone took my sandals when I had taken them off debating the necklace issue.
A guy who worked there confronted me asking where my shoes were. Then he said show me the bottom of your feet. He wanted to see if I had been walking in the grass in my socks. When I raised my foot it was covered in grey dirt not green.
Then I started talking to a guy standing in line in front of me and he was making a payment on something that the store was charging him interest on. He had a large check that he showed me was written out for $3333.”
One thing I’ve found to be almost always be true is that if you have a dream about a shopping mall, the dream usually is going to be talking about how you have been mauled in a business, career, or financial sense.
Looking for a candle implies you are always trying to look for the light in a business situation and usually you are able to sniff out what is right. You have to compete with other people who may be onto the same thing, but usually you can convince others to see it your way. Looking for a candle implies you always try and look for the light in the business situation and usually are able to sniff out what is right.
You have to compete with other people who may be on to the same thing, but usually you can convince others to see it your way.
Cobalt blue usually would go with mental activity and speaking out loud according to the chakra system if I looked at the concept of blue in a broad sense.
You can usually sniff out what is good and is likely to lead to change (smelling the candles and three is the number of change as there are 3 wicks).
I like the interpretation of the golden necklace with a feather being having valuable intuitive ability that you can bet your neck on (the necklace) and that can take wing(the feather).
The debate with the woman indicates the you can usually convince others to see it your way for your own advantage.
Socks are usually protective as are sandals in getting you to where you need to go. It is interesting that these are white socks. White is the most spiritual color that there is.
The whole thing about the socks and the grass and the dirt and the Nikes I believe indicates that you are willing to do what needs to be done and do not necessarily do things just to look good.
You sometimes and probably more often are more willing to do the dirty work (the grey on the socks) than to do things for your own personal growth (the green from plants on the bottom of your socks). You focus on getting the job done and not necessarily protecting yourself excessively and are willing to make yourself vulnerable to a degree.
The final image of the guy paying off the $3333 debt he was being charged interest on is perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of this dream. Money is energy in dreams. It can be money itself but it also can be energy that other people have loaned you in in this case.
The dream is emphasizing that you need to pay back the favors you’ve been given before they end up costing you too much. It could end up costing you more if people feel that you have not shown enough interest.
3 is the number of change and you have four 3’s. I believe the dream might be saying that if you change this aspect and pay off the favors early, it will lead to stability because 4 is the number of stability as there are four legs on a table, four legs on a chair, four directions, four seasons, etc.
This is a nicely done and well rounded dream about how to conduct your career/business/financial aspects of your life.
Feedback from the Dreamer
The dreamer gave me the following feedback:
“Steven-this is pretty awesome! I wanna show u how accurate. Hugely mauled over at work but also benefiting from it and competing not for the same position but to do the same work..long story and it’s incredibly draining has been for months. My intuition is always spot on especially regarding others’ intentions. I have a hard time verbalizing that and sharing my insights and hold back on speaking about it especially lately and even when asked. I always over exert myself and energy in order to ‘get the job done’ re: the dirt not green. The check for $3333 was interesting and I remember thinking he bought an engagement ring with it and was making payments. Although I did recently have a reiki session and now I’m wondering if I need to be repaying them or the universe in some way to pay it forward.”

Dream 377: I have an idea, I think it is right, and I can do it myself, thank you
A woman had the following series of dreams:
“I had a series of vivid dreams of late.
1. Brushing my hair and clumps of hair fall out asking with pieces of my scalp, which starts to bleed.
2. Surprisingly didn’t know I was pregnant until I went into labor (luckily at a hospital) I end up running from staff to give birth privately in an unused room alone, without help.
3. I make candy and have one recipe I’ve used so often that I know it by heart. In this dream as I tell someone the recipe, a complete stranger shows up in the doorway to insist that my ingredients are wrong. For some reason I can’t let it go, I just keep arguing why I’m right.”
I love series of dreams. Frequently a series of dreams that occur closely together may be talking about the same issues. I view what is described below as a consolidation of the information.
1. Losing hair can mean worries about having the power to do something. This is something a little different because you were actually losing pieces of your scalp with it. To me, I was wondering if you initially had concern whether you had the right idea about something.
2. Having a baby can be symbolic of starting a new project, a new idea, new venture, etc. Insisting on having the baby alone may actually be advice from your subconscious to pursue the project, idea, or venture alone without other people disrupting the idea.
3. You have a sweet idea of how to nurture others (candy) that you have carried for a long time. You are convinced about the rightness of the idea and can defend it to others (the argument with the stranger).

Dream 367: Giving the Divine Child archetype some spiritual courage
A young man had the following dream in his own words:
“I was walking beside a girl in a part of my dream last night. She was very sweet. As we were walking into a building I felt a presence behind her.
I looked back and there was a woman dressed in dark holding a gun to her.
I put my hand on the spine of the girl I was beside and humbly whispered ‘in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.’
And in that moment a light flashed over the girl with the gun and she put it down and said in a similar tone as mine when I spoke. She said ‘thank you.’
I smirked at her in a loving but strong way and walked the girl into the building she was going into.”
Assuming that the girl was a child, it was probably the Divine Child archetype. The Divine Child carries all our hopes, dreams and wishes for the future, like Jesus Christ did. It often is a blue-eyed blonde-haired little girl between the ages of 3 and 11. It can be other physical features, but these are the most frequent in our culture.
The girl as a Divine Child archetype would represent positive emotions and hoped for plans for the future. Women usually represent an emotional part of the dreamer. A woman with a gun is shadow aggressive/negative emotions.
The dreamer put his hand on her spine and say something very spiritual. The dream is saying that strong spirituality helps him stand up to negative emotions, it helps him have more spine.
The dreamer in the dream is acting as the heroic masculine which is usually the part of the personality that is involved in healing. It takes the action necessary to heal the person or make them better. In this case, the heroic masculine is lending his strength to Divine Child emotionality so that his plans can be actualized and come into reality.
When the Heroic Masculine lends it’s strength in performing healing action to the Divine Child, the Self can only say “thank you” that Shadow emotions were overcome and vanquished.
Get in touch with healing emotions through dreams at http://www.drstevenfox.com
“I dreamed I was in robes in a desert town in front of a very old brick building. I was pleading with those passing by to believe in what Jesus was trying to teach them. From the crowd someone yelled Mary you don’t know what you’re talking about. My dream then transported me to a more modern home I was in a large desert field with my husband and we were looking at the only thing growing in it which was a Walnut tree. My husband said he wanted to chop it down. He did not want to clean up walnuts every year. (not like him at all by the way) I protested and I got my way.”
It is a very archetypal dream as it invokes Jesus. The dreamer was called Mary who was the mother of Jesus. She was trying to proselytize and spread the Faith. She was not being listened to enough and being heckled by some.
Then the dream moved to the walnut tree. Each person and each living thing in a dream is a part of your mind at the first level of dream interpretation. Her husband would represent an action part of her mind. Males typically go with an action part of the mind while women tend to go more with emotional parts.
Her husband probably represented the part of her that carried out her ideas, the part of her that put her ideas in motion. A tree is a symbol of integration as it opens to the sky, sends roots deep into the earth, and is with you on the surface. It gives off a nutrient which is a walnut which symbolically is the fruit of her integration and higher thoughts.
The dream is drawing a similarity between Mary not being listened to and so many walnuts being wasted each year. It may be that it felt like not enough people were absorbing her message. She could be feeling subconsciously that the valuable life-giving message she had to give that would nurture people (the walnut) was being wasted or ignored too much, that she even may have felt heckled sometimes.
The action part of her that spread these valuable messages, represented by her husband in the dream, gets tired and frustrated with her efforts not being appreciated enough. The dream ends on a positive note as she convinced that action part of herself to carry on in spreading the fruit of her labors.

“Just had a dream that I was in a parking lot. I started my car, and when I was away from it started to rev up by its self more and more and more. I started running towards it when this happened, and a huge gust of wind hit me and launched me into the sky. When I hit the ground I woke up. What do you think this means?”
A car may symbolize how you get somewhere in life. The implication of a car revving up is probably that the dreamer’s subconscious was getting impatient with the dreamer waiting on something. Being lifted up into the sky has almost spiritual significance and points to a higher level.
The fact that the car was revving up and that he was taken up into the sky by the wind which is a natural force of nature implied that his subconscious on both a practical and spiritual basis wants him to “take off.” The dream is not saying in particular what it wants him to do and that is for the dreamer to figure out.
My dream interpretation manual is at http://www.drstevenfox.com
The following is a dream I interpreted as a moderator on Dale Miesen’s Facebook Power of Dreams page. The dreamer is an adult woman in the post is presented in the form it was posted to the Power of Dreams.
“I am in China somewhere in a city, with some man I know, possibly a friend, he tells me to wait while he has to go into a Museum to get something, I ask to go with him because I Love Museums, yet he tells me to wait at the bus stop nearby, so I wait, and wait, then a small chinese girl butts into this dream and tells me the most awesome story of how the stars or rain comes down to earth and turns into the salmon then into bubbles that protect the water? something like the circle of life story really beautiful, then I am at the bus stop again, yet get the inkling to climb the Museum walls to get a view of the city? and while looking around, this bubble centipede is coming up the wall past me as I look down and there’s this little girl playing on a sort of huge construction ladder that she shouldn’t be on, and the centipede is attempting to rescue her.”
The museum implies aesthetic interests. You are “climbing the walls” looking for something interesting. The Chinese girl usually represents emotions the dreamer is trying to figure out as women most often go with emotions, and some say the Chinese are inscrutable. The moral of the Pocahontas-like story is that natural things, living things, and little things are very important in the circle of life. The implication is that these are the things that the dream wanted her to pay attention to.
It wanted her to focus on living things like the little centipede which may seem unimportant at times but which are actually very important for life. Her subconscious did not want her to get distracted thinking about trying to climb to the top in her work life. The ladder implies climbing to the top and the fact that it is a construction ladder emphasizes that the danger is in going back to heavy work.
The worries she had about the girl in the dream is the worry she has about herself doing work that may not be right. The dream would rather that she focus on living aesthetic seemingly little things rather than taking too many risks thinking of doing heavy work. The circle of life was very important in her life now.

A man dreamed he was looking at a gigantic silver horse in the sky with a gigantic silver figured man riding it. They were about three stories high. Large white fluffy clouds covered their lower half.
There are several remarkable things about this dream. First, the figures appear in the sky. Things appearing in the sky probably are related to the dreamer’s higher aspirations.
Silver is a precious metal. Some say it could represent wealth. Each character in the dream is considered to be a different part of the dreamer’s mind at the first level of dream interpretation.
A horse is an animal and represents your instincts. Specifically, a horse in particular represents your energy or ability to accomplish what you want to accomplish in life, your horsepower. If this is a predictive dream, it was predicting that the dreamer would do well financially and otherwise.
If it is a dream of desire, and I suspect it is a dream of desire, his aspirations for what he wanted to accomplish materially are very high. Clouds emphasize how high his goals are on the one hand, while also indicating that his plans may be in the formative stage and are “cloudy.” All in all, it looks like a dream of what he wanted to carry out.
It is predicting he has the horsepower to do it. His ground game needs to be worked out as his plans could be in the sky and need to be grounded in reality. Once he works things out pragmatically, the sky is the limit.
Dreams can help you reach your goals with my book, Dreams: Guide to the Soul at http://www.drstevenfox.com
A woman dreamed she rode a unicorn through a series of thorn bushes and meet a stranger that offered her help. The unicorn disappeared. There was a direction marker pointing south. A stranger appeared who was covered with oil. The stranger who was anointed with oil offered her the great advice that she herself could fly and did not need the unicorn in order to fly. Then she flew away and woke up.
Animals represent instinctive processes. A horse often represents female sexual power. Men have dreams of horses far less often than women. The unicorn brings the element of magic.
The dream portends that the dreamer’s journey through romantic relationships has been thorny. She had been hurt by galloping through situations that she hoped would magically lead to growth (bushes are plants), but had mostly led to her being hurt (the thorns). It is interesting that the most romantic flower, roses, grow on thorny bushes.
I like the idea of the stranger being sacred advice because he is anointed with oil. Being male, he is likely to be offering advice about future actions rather than it being strictly emotional advice. North is at the top of a map and in my mind would imply flight in this case. It is not a usual symbol, but I believe the emphasis is on not letting things “go south,” i.e., get even more negative, by magically hoping that her instincts would get her to where she wanted to go.
The revelation is that she could take flight, which has spiritual implications of her finding her higher self rather than hoping that following her instincts will magically lead her to higher ground away from thorny situations.
This dream was a gift and was giving specific information. If she was recovering from a relationship, or looking for a relationship, the implication was for her to take time out and focus on her higher self.
A house can represent the dreamer to some extent because it is the framework out of which one lives. This is especially the case if it was a house in which the dreamer once lived.
The ages the dreamer was when living in the house (from birth to five years old, from age 12 to 16 years old, etc.) is important. There is something about the dreamer’s present psychodynamics that is situationally similar to the dreamer’s earlier psychodynamics at a specific developmental stage reflected in the dream.
The different areas of the house correspond roughly to different areas of the dreamer’s life. Mental or intellectual processes are associated with the upper floors or roof. An open roof may be a comment on how open minded the dreamer’s mind is, how the dreamer does not protect his thoughts efficiently, or how incomplete and unfinished his or her thoughts are in the sense of being “under construction.”
The family room may be demonstrating family dynamics. The dining room can be associated with how people in the home nurture one another. The garage can represent how people plan to move within their lives.
The living room represents the dreamer’s living space in her life. The kitchen can stand for his creativity since the cook prepares nurturing and creative combinations of food in the kitchen. The subterranean basement can often be a sign of the subconscious because it underlies the reality of the dreamer’s life.
Buildings can signal different portions of the dreamer’s life. Resorts may represent the dreamer’s recreational life or may simply be a “last resort.” Skyscrapers indicate cosmopolitan interests.
Farms may represent ingrained hard work values or bucolic serenity. Universities and, in particular, high schools usually indicate what the dreamer needs to learn in life. Dreams cannot resist using “high school” as a place for your “higher self” to learn.
Dreams cannot resist the metaphor of trains and train stations as a place where you “get your life on track.” Terminals frequently mean where you want to get to in life before you die (before your life is terminated). Airports often signal movement toward higher or spiritual goals in the dreamer’s life.
Shopping malls are frequent in dreams. Dreams cannot resist the play upon words. Dreams often use shopping malls to show how the dreamer has been “mauled” (malled?) in life usually in the person’s career or business life as a shopping mall is a commercial community.
Apartments often suggest only a part, and probably a transitional part, is going to be addressed in the dream. The setting of the dream is almost always important, especially the initial setting. The opening scene often signals what the dream is going to be about. The setting shows the field or area of the dreamer’s life where the subconscious psychodynamics are going to be played out. The above meanings should be seen as tentative hypotheses that the dreamer can confirm or give additional information about.
