What does wearing a wedding ring on the wrong finger mean in dreams?

DREAM 502: Put a Ring On It

A man described the following dream:

“In this dream there was a woman wearing her ring on her left index finger. I asked her “are you married”, and she said yes. It was a gold wedding band. She told me that she used to wear it on her right index finger but due to swelling she had to take it off and switch to the left index finger. I told her that it’s still wrong if she’s married it should be on her left ring finger, and I told her why. I explained the heart vein finger thing, and she switched it and said thank you.

I looked up a couple of interpretations online and I don’t have my book right now so all of it is kind of jumbled. Does anybody have any insight? All is welcomed.”

INTERPRETATION
There are several unusual things about this dream and when there is something out of the ordinary or not customary in a dream, the question becomes, why did the dream find it necessary to do that? Men tend to go with the dreamer’s actions while women tend to go with the dreamer’s emotions. Marriage represents the union of the dreamer’s actions with the dreamer’s emotions. A marriage represents a state of integration or having your stuff together.

A ring is a symbol of commitment. It’s made from a precious material, gold. It is circular and a circle usually represents the soul, because it has no beginning and no ending. A gold wedding band represents a precious soul commitment.

The wedding band is usually worn on the left ring finger which is the finger closest to the little finger. It started out this way because the Romans believed that the ring finger vein went directly to the heart. But this ring is worn on the index or pointer finger. Further, it is being worn on the right index finger before she is corrected.

The pointer finger points you in the right direction. The left tends to go with subconscious feelings. The right tends to go with conscious actions. Your finger swells when you been doing something too much.

I believe the dream is giving advice. The complicated part comes in when you realize that the woman in the dream represents the dreamer’s emotions.

I believe that what the dream may be saying is that the dreamer has been investing himself in conscious actions too much. The dream is screaming that he needs to take his direction from his subconscious feelings and emotions more, to go with what feels right at a soul level. Depending on your situation, it may be making recommendations about recent decisions, that it wants you to look at your inner feelings and motivations, more than what is expedient or convenient.

It is a big dream, talking about your soul commitments.

How did I use dreams to help improve my health?

IMG_20180412_052334_457

Dreams were one of the many things I used to send multiple sclerosis into complete remission. The book that describes how I did this is at https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_21?k=multiple+sclerosis+mission+remission&sprefix=Multiple+Sclerosis+Mi&crid=30FSMZV7P0E8P

What advice do I have for a young person with Multiple Sclerosis, MS?

A young person with MS asked for advice about how to cope with having multiple sclerosis–this was my answer:

Let me say first that I appreciate and agree with much of what has already been answered; however, I am going to give you a more hopeful answer, based on 26 years of living with this disease. I was on all the ABC-R medications, but continued to get steadily worse. By the time I had it for 10 years, it was evident that it was primary progressive multiple sclerosis by the intensity of the symptoms.

I had a plastic brace the length of my right leg, numbness in arms and legs, used a four-point cane, and needed a wheelchair for anything like flying and going to the airport. If I ventured out to see sights like Las Vegas, I was able to see the sights only because kind relatives pushed me around in a wheelchair.

Then the beginning of what I now call my “functional healing” started when I found an experimental treatment my neurologist at Barrow Neurological Institute agreed to do with me involving steroids and cytoxan. The whole thing is too complex to describe here as it was concurrent with I say about twenty other alternative treatments. This whole mix of Western medicine, Eastern approaches and methods, and generally healthy things to do is described in a book I am writing which is called “Multiple Sclerosis Mission Remission: Healing MS Against All Odds.”

The critical thing to know is that I believe MS is probably due to a large number of converging factors. Make medicine your base and aid it with alternative methods that do no harm and can do a lot of good. I still have MS, but MS does not have me. At this time, I have no major symptoms after 26 years, but that does not mean you stop taking the medicine.

I continued to have Tysabri infusions every six weeks, am married, and have a full time private practice as a clinical psychologist. I started a new medication which is an infusion that you only have to take twice per year. The research on it is very promising and positive. It is called Ocrevus. I have a blog where I mostly interpret dreams, but now will also post sometimes about my book about my MS experience.

It is an overwhelming diagnosis. Give yourself time and develop whatever spirituality you have. Medicine + alternative approaches + good relationships + spirituality + meaningful work was my personal formula to functional healing. Some part of that might be part of your solution. My book is really about some ways of finding what is right for you which will be personally unique.

Is there scientific evidence supporting telepathy and ESP in dreams.

Significant dream post 476: Feeling the flow of energy in life

The experiments in the following link involved “senders” transmitting an image while “receivers” reported what they saw in their dreams.  The Department of Defense and Russia have shown interest in these phenomena.

These results suggest that what you think affects people and the world around you.  After doing dream therapy for over twenty years, I am amazed at the insight dreams give about a dreamer’s life.  I have had married couples in therapy who had remarkably similar dreams on the same night.

I regularly have a dreamer “incubate” a dream to answer a significant issue or situation in their life.  My book, “Dreams: Guide to the Soul,” describes a dream incubation procedure that significantly raises the odds of having a dream that may help the dreamer with a problem situation.  The book is available at http://www.drstevenfox.com

We disregard dreams at our own risk.  I think dreams are often the result of thinking through problems in our life. Some think dreamers may enter another dimension where physical and emotional healing is more likely.  I know they were important in my multiple sclerosis getting better.  Here is the link showing some scientific evidence for telepathy:

Review of my 2nd book, “MS Mission Remission: Healing Multiple Sclerosis Against All Odds”

health-us-research-genetics-sclerosis-16351

I have completed my first draft of “MS Mission Remission: Healing Multiple Sclerosis Against All Odds” and received the following review of the first draft:

“MS MISSION REMISSION” by Dr. Fox was both a pleasure and an eye opener to the many aspects of how MS develops and can be managed.  The deep insights he provides into his personal and family dynamics are powerful indicators of how dis-ease can be instilled and manifest later in various ways, from psychological to physical trauma.  His ingenuity, spiritual insights and dogged determination to regain his life from the debilitating toll of MS is both inspirational and instructive.  A very good read from many perspectives!  -Dale Miesen, BA, Psycholgy & Philosophy”

What does blood and hissing mean in a dream?

4845263-bleeding-beautiful-sad-woman-laying-on-the-bed-stock-photo-blood

Dream 458: I have been betrayed by too many people

A woman had the following dream:

Last night, I had a dream that I was with a lover.  We were laying in a bed in my house.  I was holding his hands sort of like playing Mercy. I was holding his fingertips and squeezing them right at the nail beds right at the cuticles. And as I was squeezing his fingers, I was biting my own tongue and moving my head back and forth like a sprinkler.  As I was biting my tongue, I was spraying blood back and forth like a sprinkler.

While this was happening, I was hissing. And there was a very sweet sweet smell in the air–everything smells very sweet. Then, when I stop squeezing his fingers and I stopped hissing and I stop bleeding everywhere. I looked up and I was outside on the road and the smell went away. But then I tried to grab his hands again and recreate the bleeding and squeezing and the hissing so that I could smell the smell again but I couldn’t get the smell back and I couldn’t bleed again.

Interpretation

The setting the dream opens with is usually what the dream is mainly about. In this case, it concerns your intimate relationships. Blood is related to your vital life energy, and usually implies very close or intimate relationships. Bleeding is how you’ve been hurt or how your life force has been diminished.

It starts out with a game of Mercy with a lover. This I believe is a play on words. It implies that you were expecting playfulness and mercy in an intimate relationship, but instead were betrayed and hurt deeply. Your bleeding from the mouth indicates that you’ve been very hurt by how people, people who were close to you, have reacted to what you have said to them about this intimate betrayal.

The dream is being dramatic in using blood being sprayed everywhere like a sprinkler because I think it is trying to say that you’ve been physically, psychologically and socially hurt. Like a water sprinkler covers a wide area, this particular betrayal is so deep that it is affecting all areas of your life.

The hissing is interesting. Snakes are most often associated with hissing. Snakes in dreams are usually associated with change. Hissing is a warning that the snake is going to strike. I believe this is a condensation in the sense that your subconscious wants you to be alert for how you could be hurt in the future.  It also wants you to be careful that in your hurt feelings, that you don’t unintentionally hurt others who probably don’t realize the full extent of what you’ve been through.

Your not being able to recreate the same situation later in the dream, I think means that the dream wants you to avoid any situation that even comes close to the recent betrayals. The dream is emphasizing that what happened is over, and it is trying to help you minimize the damage to your life. A person cannot speak when they’re bleeding profusely from the mouth.  By implication, the dream is saying that you haven’t been heard in the way that you meant it, and it is hurtful to you. The dream wants you, as much as you can, to avoid any situation that comes close to the Betrayal and events after it. The hissing is a warning to be on the alert for it. The dream moves to you being on the road to emphasize that your mind wants you to go on with your life in spite of the betrayal/betrayals.

The dream is not offering a solution other than to point out metaphorically the bloody carnage the betrayals have caused. By implication, it wants you to move on.  The dream seems to be trying to warn you to avoid being played/playing games with people close to you that could hurt you dearly.

What might getting a new car from your mother mean in a dream?

picture_20170105_142115491

Dream 453: Renewed Genesis of Life

A woman had the following dream:

“Last night I had a dream about my mother and I haven’t dreamed of her in quite a while in the dream she and I went to an auto body repair shop to get the front end of my truck repaired and painted (minor accident)so the guy was explaining the process and said it would only cost about $500 for the repair I said fine let’s do it. I went to the restroom and came back the guy said let’s finalize the paperwork so we can get started my mother looked at me and said it’s taken care of I said are you sure she said yes I said thank you and say down.

A few minutes later the guy comes and say you are all set and had a me the keys but I don’t see the key to my truck and mom is standing there looking around and I say to him my key is missing and he shows me another key and says this is your car. I look at my mom and she says I took care it of it. She really took care of it she traded my truck and bought me a new Genesis fully paid for. I hugged her and cried and that hug felt so real I couldn’t let go. We got in the car and left.

Not sure what this means but any help is greatly welcomed…”

Interpretation

A vehicle usually represents your progress in life in a dream. In any case, your mother usually represents the basis of your emotions. The dream may be saying that your emotions have been repaired.

You may be making some kind of shift from work or the financial part of your life (the truck) to focusing on the beginning of a new area (a Genesis) for your life.
The dream may also be integrating mother emotions.

The fact that the hug felt so real implies a vision dream where you were visited. All in a place, it sounds like a reparative and emotionally integrating dream that wants to give you a new vehicle to enjoy a different area of your life.

To Send MS into Remission, You Have to Find What Works for You

img_20170106_150416_453

Functional Healing of Multiple Sclerosis Against All Odds Post 3:

It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Doesn’t Have Your Swing

In dealing with MS, it is likely that you will explore the edges of what is known. The internet is your ally and friend. I particularly liked the Massachusetts General Hospital Neurology discussion boards listed by disease/condition. You will get many ideas from these boards. Almost nothing works for everyone. Almost everything discussed worked for someone.
You have to find out if that particular medication and energy method/diet/exercise/lifestyle change works for you and is important to your recovery. Make sure it is a low-risk treatment. You want to gather as much information from medical or other professional sources that are available.
Doctors are willing to do experimental procedures as long as you indicate that you are fully informed. Additionally, with my doctors, I always assured them that they did not have to worry about a malpractice suit.
Any treatment that doctors pursued on my behalf in good faith and with my full consent would never be pursued in court by me, especially when I knew there was a good chance the treatment would not work.  My general rule for myself was that I would consider anything that had a three percent chance of helping and did no permanent damage. I was willing to accept temporary pain and inconvenience, if the procedure ultimately helped me and did no permanent damage. Your willingness to take risk and endure pain/inconvenience will determine what personal rule will work for you. I actively dreaded the idea that I ever would stop trying to improve my disability.
Accepting MS is not a clarion call to send up the white flag and go to sleep. Accepting multiple sclerosis means realizing what a physically, and in some cases mentally, burdensome situation you are in. It is like getting a flat tire on the interstate in the middle of a desert. You can bemoan that you have a flat tire. Whining will do you no good. Getting out of the car, getting outside of yourself and seeing what spare tire or parts you can find to fix the situation, is accepting that you have a flat tire and must do something.my
The difficult decision is whether to wait for help or to press on.  Information is vital. Communication is penultimate. As in the example above, it is important to set up a communication system.
In the case of the flat tire, you want a smartphone to get information, such as how far it is to the nearest gas station. You obviously need it to call for help. In the situation of having a major “incurable” illness, you want information from the internet, books, and experts so that you obtain the best medical and alternative care, as well as adopting the best personal practices (diet, exercise, sleep schedule, daily routine, recreation, and so forth).
I  was in a state of shock and surprised that the medical doctor did not tell me first instead of my wife. My wife was a physician and board certified psychiatrist. The doctor I supposed thought it was more prudent to tell my wife first. I now believe that he did tell me, but I did not want to hear any of it, so I repressed what he said. Being a psychologist does not guarantee that your mind will not defend itself by bold-faced use of repression.
Your subconscious is always measuring how much information you may be ready to accept.
His gut instinct was to make this a doctor-to-doctor consultation first, I thought. It was my hypothesis, that he did not want to endure another professional’s (I am a private practice clinical psychologist) reaction to a conundrum in his life. I thought his instincts were good. The real truth was my subconscious did not allow me to process the horrible news until I heard it from someone I loved, my wife. It is a blessing to have a significant other who tells you the truth, no matter what.

Functional Healing from Multiple Sclerosis Against All Odds

MS Healing Post 1:

The Thunder-clap

I was having trouble with my eyesight. Double vision was new for me. I was dropping things I held for no reason. My balance was unsteady and I would sometimes fall down seemingly for no reason. My wife, being the board certified psychiatrist that she is, insisted that I consult with a neurologist.  Numerous tests and procedures were performed (to be described later). It was time for us to meet with the good doctor and hear the results.
When we went to obtain the results, the neurologist mumbled a few words at me and looked down at the floor while he spoke. I processed nothing of what he was saying to me. Repression is a remarkable phenomenon. He met with my wife for what seemed like a long time. Driving back from the doctor’s office to Arizona State University Student Health where my wife was the psychiatrist on the eating disorders team, Debby was uncharacteristically quiet.
When we drove into Student Heath and I stopped the car to let her out, I found out why.
“Well, I guess we will keep trying to figure out what is going on with me,” I said with resignation. “What are you talking about? The MS looks severe,” she said. Deborah never suffered a fool well.
“MS?” I innocently queried.
With disbelief Dr. Deborah Brogan said, “Didn’t he tell you that you have MS, multiple sclerosis?”
“What?” I asked.
Debby, answered, “You heard me. The doctor said you have multiple sclerosis.”
So it began, my fifteen-year journey through purgatory. I thought I must have made serious mistakes in a previous life. At the time it seemed as good an explanation as any for why I contracted multiple sclerosis, MS.
It turns out that I probably contracted multiple sclerosis because of conditions I endured in this lifetime which would include the cold climate I was born into in the Midwest, abuse as a child, drinking too much diet coke with aspartame, frequently having bronchitis, genetics, getting into a car accident when I was a 31-year-old, working out in a hot karate studio, etc. MS is a syndrome which I believe is ignited by a host of various factors coming together. I believe it to be the exception, rather than the rule, for multiple sclerosis in a particular person to be due mainly to only one causative factor. I think that is why MS must be fought on numerous fronts—it probably was caused by the totality of your life and now is affecting every aspect of your life.
At the time, I thought that I just wanted to return to my old self, the “I” your ego thinks of you as being. I never accepted the MS as being the real me. It was an adversary sent to test the real me. Little did I know how much my real self was going to change because of the battle, no the war, with multiple sclerosis.
Do any of you readers have experience being told you had a serious disease that stands out in your mind like it happened yesterday? If so, please share by filling in the form at the bottom of this post.
