What does a heart attack mean in a dream?

You’ve Broken My Heart

Dream 312: You’re Tearing Me Apart

A man in his thirties dreamed that he had a heart attack. Nurses were feverishly trying to revive him with electric paddles. They put one pole of charge on his heart, and mistakenly put the other pole on his hip.

Because when paddle was mistakenly put on his hip, a huge blister developed there. There was so much pressure from the blister that he told the nurses to cut his underwear so that the blister did not burst. The blister took the shape of a heart.

Interpretation

What an interesting dream this is. I’m going to throw out many hypotheses because there’s so many ways these symbols could go in the configuration presented. The only thing that seemed certain was that the dreamer’s feelings had been hurt deeply in some way recently, i.e., it looked like someone had broken the dreamer’s heart.

Nurses are healers. Electricity of course is energy. The hips are near the first chakra and near the genitals. So the configuration of this dream looked like connecting the dreamer’s heart energy with physical desire by mistake led to the dreamer’s feelings being hurt.

Water is emotion. Blisters are full of water that comes from yourself and are a healing reaction to hurt. Having the underwear cut away because of pressure suggests feeling exposed and hurt related to desire somehow.

The blister taking the shape of a heart reinforces the feeling of being hurt emotionally. There were so many ways the details of this dream could be interpreted depending on circumstances. There were many questions that could be posed.

For instance, were nurses actually involved in some way? Did the dreamer’s beloved die of illness? Was his being hurt related to sex or to a sexual relationship in some way?

These were all very invasive questions, but I felt like the meaning of this dream would become fairly obvious if we knew the details which only the dreamer knew for sure.

Feedback

After hearing the above interpretation, the dreamer told me his girlfriend was a nurse. They were going through a painful separation. She was physically ill.

She was pushing him away. She did not think she could give him everything he needed in a relationship. Her misgivings eventually led to the separation. The dreamer felt that the interpretation fit the situation.

  1. What it means when you dream that you having a heart attack in a dream that you passed away but later on you hear one of your closest friends husband had a heart attack what do that means by he pass away the same time I have the dream..

    1. I believe our consciousness is connected by a collective subconscious that makes it possible to “know” things concurrently or in the future. We talk about dreams being predictive, and your dream may have been a variation of that. It is a gift. It usually happens concurrently with people that you are close to, and you mentioned that it was the husband of one of your closest friends.

    2. At the first level, if there are no heart problems, it can be interpreted symbolically. A medical physical can help determine if you have heart concerns. Assuming that you are in good health, symbolically it might mean that you have heartbreak about something.
At another level, dreams can be predictive, and this dream may have been predictive in a very general way because it preceded your friend’s husband death.

  3. cindy knoke – https://cindyknoke.com/ I have stopped counting, which is a very good thing, but thank you sincerely. Last count there were 255,053 internet visitors. 677,510 wordpress views. 106,510 wordpress comments and growing. 10,000 internet followers... Thank you & join us! I retired early after 27 years as a psychotherapist/mental health director (Cindy Barton LCSW) and moved to the outer limits of no-wheres-ville to a home I call "The Holler." My closest neighbors are coyotes (packs and packs of them and they are HUNGRY), rattlers (lots and lots of them and they are MEAN), and free range cows/bulls (the bulls aren't too friendly either!) Forget cell phones. They don't work out here. Forget GPS, it misdirects. It's best not to wander too much out here, the people (and their dogs) are kinda twitchy. To reach The Holler you turn right at the reeking chicken farm, down a bunch of pot-holed semi-streets/dirt roads, past the abandoned refrigerators and occupied old RV’s and then things get kinda dicey. My friends usual reaction to the trip to The Holler is, “You’ve got to be kidding!” Or, “Next time let’s meet half way.” This is our little bit of heavenly Appalachia right here in rural California. I blog about traveling, photography, Holler happenings, and anything else that strikes my fancy. Stop by the blog and take a peek. It’s safe. I promise. The blister took the shape of what? Is this missing? Maybe we can fill it in and you can interpert our exprapolation. I enjoy these posts!

    1. Oops! Fixed it. Although filling in the blank might have been more fun :^)
