North to Alaska

Dream 247: Finding Myself

A 19-year-old male dreamt that he was watching a same-aged friend drive his car north to Alaska. This friend was an exceedingly “nice guy” who was not very assertive. In the backseat were friends who were very assertive and were the same age as he.

The people in the back seat were a couple who were close to one another.
He somehow knew the nice guy driver was headed to Alaska. He envisioned that these three were going to meet some beautiful women he had always wanted to date.

The dreamer was in therapy because he lost his temper too often and yelled at others. He had a history of not being assertive. When he didn't get what he wanted and others ran over him, he blew up and lost friends.

The too nice male driving the car was the action part of himself that was not assertive enough. He is driving because that part of his psyche commands his actions. The male and female in the back of the car were assertive action and assertive emotional parts of his mind.

The dream is including them to show that he has these potential realities inside his psyche. That they are a couple who get along indicates that it is possible for him to integrate his assertive actions with assertive emotions. Since women most often go with emotions, the beautiful women in Alaska represented new and attractive ways of dealing with others emotionally.

For him, Alaska was a serene and beautiful place. Thinking of Alaska, he saw a tranquil white glow. White is the combination of all the other colors and is considered the most spiritual color. The dream was assuring him that being assertive emotionally in interactions was spiritually sound.
